Sometimes the most thoughtful gift isn’t something for the baby but something that makes her everyday life a little easier.
Here’s a big list of practical ways to help her feel cared for, too! Which one will you pick?
Drop off a nourishing meal she can pop in the oven, or something ready to eat straight from the fridge.
Take the kids for an outing, help with the school run or play dinosaurs and dolls for an hour and give her a quieter morning to recover and settle into life with the new baby.
Walk the dog, refill the pet’s food bowl or let them out into the yard.
It’s one less thing for her to worry about when her hands and head are already full.
Stock the fridge with nourishing snacks she can manage with one hand while holding or feeding her baby. Good food is my love language!! If you want some food ideas send me a message x
Put a load of washing on, hang some out, empty the dishwasher or wipe down the kitchen bench. They’re small things that will make her day easier.
Ask for her shopping list, pick up the essentials or grab the things she’s run out of.
Bonus points for dropping everything at the door so she doesn’t need to host anyone.
The messages and visitors often slow down after those first few weeks.
Keep checking in. Remember the hard days. Send the message, make the call, listen and offer help again.
You don’t have to wait for her to ask.
If she’s comfortable offer to take the baby for a stroll so she can shower, nap, eat in peace or simply enjoy some quiet time to herself. Support can look like being there, but it can also look like giving her space.
