The scale went up. Did you gain body fat? Not necessarily.

Body weight is noisy. Fluid, food, sodium, glycogen and normal day-to-day variation can all move the number without telling you much about changes in body fat.

If you choose to use the scale, the useful information is usually in the trend over time, not what happened between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Fat Loss, Explained 01.

A new series breaking down fat loss without the extremes, shortcuts or unnecessary noise.

Menopause can feel like the body has suddenly changed the rules.

The changes are real, but that doesn’t mean your metabolism is broken or that nothing can be influenced.

I’ve updated the article to look at what actually changes through menopause, and where strength, movement, nutrition, sleep and recovery still matter.

Magnesium has become one of the most popular supplements for sleep, but the research is a little more nuanced than the claims you’ll often see online.

It may have a role for some people, but it’s not a shortcut around the fundamentals of good sleep.

So, what does the evidence actually tell us?

Fresh, frozen or organic, what actually matters?

Eating plenty of vegetables doesn’t need to be complicated, and it certainly doesn’t need to be expensive.

Frozen can be an excellent option. Conventional produce is absolutely worth eating. And “organic” doesn’t automatically mean pesticide-free.

A little context can make healthy choices much simpler.

There’s no shortage of health information online.

The problem is knowing what actually deserves your attention.

Fear, controversy and absolutes travel quickly on social media. The things that consistently improve health usually aren’t nearly as exciting: eating well, moving regularly, maintaining muscle, sleeping properly, not smoking, keeping alcohol sensible, and doing those things consistently over time.

That doesn’t mean supplements, new technologies or emerging research are useless. Some are genuinely interesting and potentially valuable.

They’re just rarely where I think the conversation should start.

My goal with the content I share is pretty simple: less noise, less unnecessary fear, and a little more clarity about what actually matters.

If that helps even a few people feel more confident about looking after their health, I think that’s worthwhile.
