Helping an older loved one stay at home for longer? A Support at Home package might be the answer.

Support at Home packages are government-funded supports designed to help older Australians live independently at home, with the right level of help.

There are 8 levels of packages, ranging from basic support to higher-level care needs. Supports can include:

🏠 Help around the home
đźšż Personal care
đźš— Transport to appointments
🍽️ Meal preparation
🧑‍⚕️ Allied health and nursing

Valmar provides Support at Home across the Riverina/Murray and Southern Highlands, tailored to each person's goals and preferences.

Linking Community sometimes means stepping outside your comfort zone. ❤️

Valmar Senior Manager Mellissa Harley is doing exactly that, joining a team from The Gym - Tumut to take on Nedd’s Uncomfortable Challenge – 24 Hours for the Homeless.

Starting tonight, the team will be getting uncomfortable for 24 hours to help raise awareness and funds for people experiencing homelessness.

At Valmar, Linking Community is more than something we say. It’s about people supporting people, getting involved and making a difference in the communities we are proud to be part of.

We’re incredibly proud to see Mel putting that into action and representing Valmar while supporting such an important cause.

A bit of nostalgia.....

Featured on Grand Designs Australia, this was the final project completed by the Taskwrights Tumut grounds care crew. Our role was to establish a lawn on top of the earth house. The work involved a full day of levelling the ground, seeding, and fertilizing the soil. Within a few months, the grass had grown across the roof, becoming an integral part of the earth house’s architectural landscape.

This week is National Carers Week, and it's for the people who rarely put their hand up. đź’›

If you're looking after a partner, a parent, a child or a friend - you are a carer, whether or not you've ever used that word about yourself. It is constant, it is often invisible, and it is exhausting in ways people outside it don't see.

You are allowed to need a break. Respite and carer support are real services, you're entitled to them, and asking for help doesn't mean you're not coping.

Valmar Supports Services proudly celebrated 60 years of service on Wednesday 7 October at Valmar Central in Tumut. The event brought together clients their families and carers, employees and board members past and present, corporate partners and community members.
The event was a fitting tribute to the many individuals whose passion, commitment and vision have shaped Valmar over the past 60 years and will continue to guide its future.

Yesterday, Valmar welcomed Dr Joe McGirr, Member for Wagga Wagga, to the Gilmore Resource Management Centre for a guided tour of the facility, with each operational area explained along the way.

One of the highlights of the visit was showcasing our recycling processing line, where people with disabilities undertake the positive sorting of recyclable materials to deliver a high-quality, premium product. Dr McGirr was also shown our FOGO composting operation, where food and garden organics are transformed into valuable compost through a carefully managed process.

Throughout the tour, Dr McGirr asked many insightful questions and showed a genuine interest in learning more about waste management and resource recovery. It was evident that the visit provided a greater understanding of recycling and composting processes and the important role these operations play in environmental sustainability.

Also attending the visit were Snowy Valleys Council Mayor, Julia Ham, and Deputy Mayor, Hugh Packard.
