🦷🪥 One of the most common questions parents ask us is, “How can I get my toddler to brush their teeth without the tears & struggles?” 💛
We know toothbrushing can sometimes be a challenge, so we’ve put together 10 gentle, practical tips to help make brushing time a little easier, more enjoyable & less stressful for the whole family! 🌈✨
1. 🪥 Make it easy – have their toothbrush ready with toothpaste & gently encourage them to start.
2. 🌈 Offer choices – let them choose their toothbrush, toothpaste flavour or where they’d like to brush.
3. 🔍 Make it fun – pretend you’re searching for hidden germs!
4. ❤️ Acknowledge their feelings – let them know it’s okay to find brushing tricky. Listen, reassure & encourage.
5. 💡 Work together – ask what they don’t like about brushing & find ways to make it easier.
6. 🎶 Add music – play their favourite song & have a little toothbrush dance!
7. ✨ Explain why – use simple, positive words to explain how brushing keeps teeth clean, strong & healthy.
8. ⏰ Slow things down – give them time to finish what they’re doing & prepare for brushing. Try not to rush.
9. 🙌 Give them some control – let them brush first, then have an adult help finish. Take turns brushing together!
10. 📺 Try distraction – a favourite show, story or song can help make brushing feel less overwhelming.
🤍Remember, every child is different. What works beautifully one day might not work the next, and that’s okay!
Having a few different strategies to try can make toothbrushing a more positive experience for everyone. Keep it playful. Keep it gentle.
Celebrate the little wins. 🦷🤍✨
