This big man needs big help. Chief arrived in our care from our friends at the Canadian Animal Task Force, clearly in desperate need of help. He has a ruptured achilles tendon, causing severe pain and making it difficult for him to walk. After a thorough exam, our veterinarians discovered Chief also has hip dysplasia and arthritic changes in his back legs.
Due to his extra large size and the issues in his joints, we weren’t sure if Chief would be a good candidate for an amputation surgery. That much weight on already damaged joints could cause him even more pain. So, we started him on pain medications right away to keep him comfortable and sent his file over to a surgeon for a second opinion. After an in person consultation, the surgeon believes that with an achilles tendon repair and several months in a cast, this big sweet guy has a chance – so we’re going to take it.
Chief will need all the help he can get during his long recovery period. Can you show him that you’re in his corner by supporting his medical expenses?

📝These journal prompts come from Robin Sharma’s book: The 5 AM Club. This is my favorite journaling tool that I always come back to when I’m in a season of struggle—When old noise resurfaces, I find this practice redirects & disciplines my listening back to my heart space.

I believe a morning contemplation practice is a daily non-negotiable. Whether it’s vipassana, mantra, reading poetry, doing some lymphatic drainage, oracle card reading—I always spend at least an hour connecting inward so I can start my day fully grounded & integrated.

Kristy the Lighthouse Holistic Wellness Centre is teaming up with the Foundation for Addiction and Mental Health (FAMH) to put on a Restorative ⭐️Pay-what-you-can⭐️ Sound Bath Event.

FAMH is a non-profit whose mission is to enhance community well-being by offering the best in education for Addiction & Mental Health, broadening understanding and support for these issues and celebrating recovery’s positive impact on individuals and their community.

This event is for EVERYONE whether you yourself are struggling with mental health or addiction or a support person for someone who does. This event is a pay what you can event to remove any barriers to attend. We believe true healing is a holistic approach and comes in many forms—If you have heard about sound baths and curious to see how this could supplement your recovery join in!!

I think by now we’ve all gotten the memo (and if it landed in your Junk Folder, here it is again):

✨Your Health is not Owed to You—AND—there is no such thing as a quick fix, or a practitioner that can ‘heal’ you✨

Health comes to those that commit to small doable action steps each day—who start each day back on track, even if there was a stumble the day before. It comes from those that keep it simple and have a solid foundation in the basics.

There are no magic pills out there that can compensate for a toxic lifestyle.
