Perimenopause & Mental Health: Understanding the Connection 🍃

Perimenopause is about more than hot flashes and night sweats. For many women, hormonal changes can also bring brain fog, mood swings, difficulty concentrating, changes in motivation, and the feeling that they just don’t feel like themselves. 🙏

So, what’s happening? Fluctuating hormone levels during perimenopause can influence brain function, including the systems involved in mood, focus, and emotional regulation. These changes can affect how you think, feel, and navigate everyday life. At Vive Health Group, we believe understanding these changes is an important step toward finding the right support. ✨

How can EXOMIND help? EXOMIND is a non-invasive treatment that uses transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to target specific areas of the brain involved in mood regulation and emotional well-being. By delivering magnetic pulses to these areas, EXOMIND is designed to modulate brain activity and may help support improvements in mood and mental wellness for appropriate candidates. 🧠

October is ADHD Awareness Month 🍃

ADHD can affect people of all ages and genders, yet it doesn’t look the same for everyone. Dr. Jennifer Yee explains:

For some, symptoms may be more noticeable or disruptive. For others, ADHD can be less obvious, making it harder to recognize and understand. Greater awareness helps us move beyond assumptions and better understand the different ways ADHD can show up in everyday life. 🧠

In recognition of ADHD Awareness Month, Dr. Jennifer Yee invites you to learn more about ADHD on our blog, including newer findings that are helping expand our understanding of this complex condition. Read it here: https://vivehealth.ca/newer-findings-about-adhd/

You take care of everyone else. But who's taking care of you? 🍃

The pressure to perform. The responsibility to provide. The expectation to keep pushing, stay focused and handle whatever life throws your way. Between work, family and everything in between, it's easy to put your own mental well-being at the bottom of the list. But feeling overwhelmed, struggling with your mood or having trouble switching off doesn't have to become your normal. At Vive Health, we believe mental wellness deserves the same attention as your physical health. 🙏

EXOMIND is a non-invasive treatment that uses advanced ExoTMS™ technology to stimulate targeted brain regions involved in mood regulation, offering another option for those looking to support their mental well-being. ✨

Clinical research has reported improvements in areas including:

• Managing stressful situations
• Mood
• Sleep
• Positive thinking

You don't have to wait until you're running on empty to prioritize yourself.
Taking care of your mental health isn't a weakness. It's an investment in yourself, your relationships and the life you're working so hard to build. 💪

Curious whether EXOMIND could be right for you? Connect with the team at Vive Health to learn more about the treatment and whether it's an appropriate option for your needs:

HPV Myths: TRUE or FALSE? 🍃

It’s HPV Prevention Week, and we’re busting a few common myths about HPV with Dr. Kate Hadfield, ND. There’s a lot of misinformation surrounding HPV, and unfortunately, some of it can create unnecessary fear, anxiety and shame.

Here are a few myths Dr. Kate hears often:

❌ “If I have HPV, I’ll get cervical cancer.”
❌ “HPV is rare.”
❌ “I need to get rid of HPV to be healthy.”
❌ “Having HPV means someone was unfaithful.”

The reality? HPV is extremely common, and having HPV does not mean you will develop cervical cancer.

✅ Most sexually active people will be exposed to HPV at some point in their lives.
✅ Most HPV infections are cleared or controlled by the immune system without causing long-term problems.
✅ An HPV diagnosis does not tell you when you were exposed or who you were exposed by.
✅ Regular screening and appropriate follow-up are important tools for protecting your health.

Understanding what HPV actually is (and isn’t) can help replace fear with facts and reduce the stigma surrounding this very common virus. This HPV Prevention Week, let’s focus on what matters: prevention, appropriate screening, follow-up when needed, and taking care of your overall health. 💛

Feeling mentally drained, foggy, or like you’re not quite operating at your best? 🍃

In his latest blog, Dr. Colin Race explores how Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) may support mental clarity, emotional resilience and stress management, especially during those seasons of life when everything feels like a lot. 🧠

At Vive Health, the doctors have been expanding their use of TMS with the Exomind device, and patients have been incorporating this technology into their care for a variety of reasons: from wanting to feel more focused and steady to addressing symptoms of low mood, anxiety, stress and mental fatigue. 😩

TMS uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate specific areas of the brain involved in mood, focus, emotional balance and sleep. Rather than working throughout the body like a medication or supplement, it works directly with these brain networks. ✨

In his blog, Dr. Colin shares what patients may notice following a course of treatment, including clearer thinking and focus, greater emotional resilience, improved stress tolerance, more stable mood and better sleep.
And while sleep, nutrition, movement and stress management remain important pieces of overall well-being, TMS may be another tool to consider. 💭

You don’t have to wait until you’re completely burnt out to start thinking about your mental well-being. Read Dr. Colin’s blog to learn more: https://vivehealth.ca/mental-fatigue-and-stress-tms-to-feel-like-your-best-self-again/

A Patient’s Journey with Dr. Patti Yik 🍃

At Vive Health Group, we believe meaningful healthcare starts with feeling heard, understood, and supported. For Lucia, working with Dr. Patti Yik became an important part of her journey toward feeling more like herself again. Through personalized care, including IV therapy, acupuncture, and lifestyle changes, Lucia describes not only changes in her physical health, but a renewed sense of energy, confidence, and well-being. 🙏

We’re so grateful that she chose to share her experience:

“I cannot recommend Dr. Patti Yik highly enough. When I first came to her, I was on stress leave and struggling with my physical and emotional health. I was feeling overwhelmed, overweight, and disconnected from myself. Patti was instrumental in guiding me through my recovery.
Her care is deeply personal and compassionate. From the very first appointment, she made me feel heard, understood, and supported. With her help, I embarked on a healing journey that included IV therapy, acupuncture, and meaningful lifestyle changes tailored to my needs. Under her care, I lost 30 pounds and, more importantly, regained my energy, confidence, and sense of well-being.

What truly sets Patti apart is her warmth and commitment. She doesn't just treat symptoms—she supports the whole person. Each session felt like a safe space where I could share my challenges and celebrate my progress. I always felt uplifted and empowered after seeing her.
Thank you, Patti, for walking beside me on this journey. Your guidance has made a lasting impact on my life.”

— Lucia, Vive Health Patient 💛

Thank you, Lucia, for trusting us with your care and for putting your experience into words. It means so much to us! At Vive Health, our goal is to create a space where you feel supported as a whole person.

Have you heard about EMSELLA at Vive Health Group? 🍃

Earlier this year, we introduced EMSELLA to our clinic: an innovative, non-invasive technology designed to support pelvic-floor health and help address urinary incontinence. 🙏

Urinary leakage can happen when you sneeze, laugh, exercise, or simply go about your day. And while it’s common, that doesn’t mean you have to accept it as something you just have to live with. Pads can help manage leaks, but they don’t strengthen the underlying pelvic-floor muscles. Pelvic-floor muscle training can be beneficial, but it requires consistent participation and proper technique. 💭

EMSELLA offers another approach. Using electromagnetic energy, EMSELLA stimulates thousands of pelvic-floor muscle contractions in a single session, all while you remain fully clothed. One 28-minute session delivers approximately 11,000 pelvic-floor contractions. ⚡️

In comparative clinical studies, EMSELLA demonstrated:

✨ 7× greater effectiveness than pelvic-floor muscle training
✨ 3× greater effectiveness than electrical stimulation

At Vive Health, we’re proud to offer innovative, evidence-informed technologies that give our patients more options when it comes to their health and quality of life. If urinary leakage is affecting your confidence, activities, or everyday life, ask our team whether EMSELLA may be an option for you.

Why “Everything Looks Normal” Is Not a Diagnosis: And What to Do Next 🍃

“Everything looks normal.” For someone struggling to conceive, those words can be anything but reassuring. In her newest blog, Dr. Patti Yik explores why “normal” fertility testing doesn’t always mean there’s nothing left to investigate, and what questions you can ask when you still feel like something is being missed. 🩺

Conventional fertility testing plays an important role in identifying major structural or reproductive concerns. But standard testing may not capture the full picture, including areas such as:

✨ More comprehensive thyroid function
✨ Hormone patterns throughout the entire menstrual cycle
✨ Inflammation and nutrient status
✨ Gut health and estrogen metabolism
✨ S***m DNA fragmentation

The blog also explores real clinical patterns where deeper investigation uncovered factors that weren’t apparent through standard testing alone. Most importantly, naturopathic fertility care isn’t about replacing your existing medical team. It can be a collaborative layer of investigation that works alongside your OB, reproductive endocrinologist, or family doctor to explore the functional picture more deeply.

If you’ve been told “everything looks normal” but you still have unanswered questions, this is a blog worth reading: https://vivehealth.ca/why-everything-looks-normal-is-not-a-diagnosis-and-what-to-do-next/
