MEET THE BONSAI FAMILY!

We've realized something… we've shared plenty of laughs, dances, silly moments, and behind-the-scenes fun, but we've never actually formally introduced the wonderful people who make up our Bonsai family!

Well, it's time to change that!

We're starting a new tradition: Meet the Bonsai Family!

And who better to kick things off than our very own Taranjot!

Now, if you've been following our reels, chances are you've already seen her! She's probably been dancing, laughing, being goofy, or joining me in one of our spontaneous moments of fun!

Taranjot is an absolute joy to work with. She's upbeat, playful, kindhearted, and brings such wonderful energy to Bonsai.

And here's something I've noticed: when you work closely with people long enough, you start recognizing little similarities. Let's just say, Taranjot is a woman after my own heart!

But there's so much more to her than her playful personality.

She's wonderful with our patients, fantastic with children, and never seems to miss an opportunity to hold a baby! Her warmth and genuine care are part of what makes her such a pleasure to have on our team.

At Bonsai, we take our work seriously, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun while doing it!

We believe a healthy workplace is one where people feel comfortable being themselves, where laughter is welcome, kindness matters, and everyone contributes to the environment we're growing together.

After all, just like our bonsai plants, a thriving team needs the right environment to flourish.

Taranjot, we're so happy you're part of our Bonsai family! Keep smiling, keep dancing, and keep being wonderfully YOU!

Now, tell us… have you met Taranjot yet? Or have you spotted her dancing in one of our reels?

Stay tuned! We'll be introducing more of the faces behind Bonsai Medical & Aesthetics!

Your skin deserves more than a facial. It deserves a thoughtful approach to care!

At Bonsai Medical & Aesthetics, we believe beautiful, healthy skin starts with understanding YOU.

Your skin tells a story. Stress, hormones, lifestyle, nutrition, aging, and even your environment can influence how your skin looks and feels.

That's why we don't believe in one-size-fits-all skincare.

Whether you're looking to brighten dull skin, address pigmentation, improve texture, or simply give your skin some well-deserved TLC, our medical-grade facials are designed with intention.

Our philosophy is simple: We don't believe in doing more just for the sake of doing more. We believe in doing what's right for your skin.

Because great skincare isn't about changing who you are. It's about helping you look and feel your best, naturally.

Behind almost every prescription is another healthcare professional helping to keep our patients safe.

Today is World Pharmacists Day.

And as a physician, I want to take a moment to recognize the pharmacists who are an essential part of patient care.

Because pharmacists do so much more than dispense medication.

They catch drug interactions.

They notice when doses don't look right.

They help patients understand medications that can sometimes be confusing.

They identify adherence challenges.

They answer the questions patients forgot to ask in the doctor's office.

They help manage chronic diseases.

They support vaccination, prevention and health education.

And sometimes, they pick up the phone and call us because something just doesn't make sense.

Those conversations matter.

Healthcare works best when it isn't territorial.

When physicians, pharmacists, nurses and other healthcare professionals communicate, collaborate and respect the expertise each person brings to the table, our patients benefit.

The 2026 theme for World Pharmacists Day is:

“Empowering pharmacists for healthier futures.”

And that is an important conversation.

As our healthcare systems face increasing demands, we should be asking how every member of the healthcare team can work to their full potential — not in isolation, but together.

Because excellent patient care is rarely the work of one person.

It is the result of many people doing their jobs well, communicating effectively and keeping the patient at the centre of the conversation.

So today, to the pharmacists who have caught something we missed...

Who have called to clarify a prescription...

Who have taken extra time to explain a new medication...

Who have helped a worried patient after the clinic doors were closed...

And who quietly contribute to safer healthcare every single day:

Thank you.

Your expertise matters.

Your vigilance matters.

And your place on the healthcare team matters.

Happy World Pharmacists Day.

Clean hands. Clean heart.

In medicine, infection control matters. Clean hands protect our patients. Proper procedures matter. Standards matter.

But there is another kind of care that can’t be dispensed from a bottle.

Listen.

Pay attention.

Lead with empathy.

And bring discernment into the room.

Because empathy doesn’t mean abandoning judgment, boundaries, or experience. In fact, some of the most important lessons I’ve learned—personally and professionally—have taught me that you need all of them.

A good heart, with wisdom.

Compassion, with discernment.

Kindness, with boundaries.

And enough humility to remember that when someone walks into an exam room, they are trusting you with something that matters to them.

Clean hands are part of good medicine.

A clean heart matters too.

Today marks the inaugural National Women in Medicine Day — a new U.S.-based observance created to recognize and amplify the contributions of women across medicine and healthcare.

Although I practice in Canada, this day still feels personal to me.

Part of my medical training took place in the United States, and I have friends and colleagues practicing on both sides of the border. Different healthcare systems. Different structures. But many of the conversations facing women in medicine are remarkably familiar.

After more than 15 years in medicine, I’ve come to believe that progress cannot simply be measured by how many women enter the profession.

We also have to ask:

Who stays?

Who leaves?

Who leads?

Who gets heard?

Who gets invited into the rooms where decisions are made?

Whose contributions are recognized?

And what does it sometimes cost women to remain?

For a long time, I believed that carrying more was simply part of being a good physician.

More responsibility.

More emotional labour.

More expectations.

More sacrifice.

At some point, though, we have to question the idea that exhaustion is evidence of commitment.

It isn’t.

Exhaustion isn’t a credential.

Self-sacrifice isn’t a leadership strategy.

And belonging shouldn’t require abandoning yourself.

Today, I’m celebrating the women who care for patients, conduct research, teach the next generation, lead organizations, build businesses, advocate for change and quietly keep healthcare moving every single day.

I’m also thinking about the women whose careers didn’t unfold exactly as they imagined.

The women who changed direction.

The women who stepped away.

The women who came back.

The women who started over.

The women who decided there had to be another way — and built it.

Because perhaps the next chapter for women in medicine isn’t simply about getting more women through the door.

It’s also about what happens once we’re inside.

Are women heard?

Are they respected?

Are they given meaningful opportunities to lead?

Can they build fulfilling careers without sacrificing their health, their families, or themselves in the process?

Today is a celebration.

But I hope it is also an invitation.

Make her visible.

Acknowledge her work.

Say her name in the rooms where opportunities are being discussed.

Open the door.

And when you get through yours, hold it open for someone else.

Happy inaugural National Women in Medicine Day to my friends and colleagues practicing in the United States — and recognition to women in medicine everywhere who understand why these conversations matter.

There is still work to do.

And there are a lot of remarkable women doing it.

A little skincare moment at Bonsai.

Healthy-looking skin isn’t about covering everything up. It’s about taking care of the skin you’re in — consistently.

One of the things I love about medical aesthetics is that sometimes the smallest steps can make a noticeable difference in how the skin looks and feels. Hydration, texture, brightness, sun protection and a good home routine all matter.

And no, good skin doesn’t happen overnight.

It’s consistency. It’s protecting your skin. It’s choosing products and treatments that actually make sense for your skin. And it’s remembering that skincare is care — not perfection.

Because the goal was never to look like someone else.
The goal is healthy, cared-for skin that still looks like you.

Patient safety is more than preventing medical errors.

It is making sure the abnormal test result gets followed up.

It is reviewing medications when a patient is taking several prescriptions.

It is noticing when someone is overdue for screening.

It is making sure important information doesn't get lost when care moves between providers.

It is listening when a patient says, “Something doesn't feel right.”

And sometimes, it is simply making sure someone doesn't fall through the cracks.

Today is World Patient Safety Day.

The 2026 theme focuses on safe care for people living with chronic, noncommunicable diseases — conditions such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and chronic respiratory disease.

The slogan is:

Safe care for life!

As a family physician, this theme resonates deeply with me because much of primary care isn't one dramatic intervention.

It is hundreds of small decisions made over years.

A blood pressure checked again.

A screening test ordered.

An abnormal result followed.

A medication adjusted.

A diagnosis reconsidered when the pieces don't quite fit.

A patient encouraged to come back.

A referral tracked.

A conversation documented.

None of these things individually looks revolutionary.

Together, they can change the trajectory of someone's health.

Patient safety also requires partnership.

Patients should feel comfortable asking:

“What is this medication for?”

“Are there side effects I should watch for?”

“When should I follow up?”

“Do I need any screening tests?”

“What happens if this doesn't improve?”

And perhaps one of the most important questions:

“What is the next step?”

Good healthcare isn't simply about treating illness when it appears.

It is about building systems that make it harder for people to be missed, forgotten or harmed along the way.

Because when healthcare is something a person may need for decades, safety isn't a single moment.

It's a continuum.

What kind of world are we creating?

It's a question I've been sitting with lately.

We've become incredibly good at surviving. We push through exhaustion, normalize stress, celebrate busyness, and convince ourselves that one day we'll finally slow down. But somewhere along the way, many of us have forgotten what it feels like to truly thrive.

I don't believe we were created simply to endure life.

I believe we were created to live it fully with vitality, purpose, connection, and joy.

That belief is at the heart of my article. It is a reflection on the future I hope we can build together, where health is proactive, beauty reflects inner vitality, and wellness becomes a shared responsibility.

This vision inspired Bonsai Medical & Aesthetics, where medicine, aesthetics, and whole person wellness come together to help people reconnect with themselves, not only physically, but emotionally and mentally as well.

Real change doesn't begin with a policy or a program.

It begins with people.

It begins with the choices we make every day to care for ourselves, to care for one another, and to believe that thriving is possible.

My hope is that this article encourages you to pause, reflect, and perhaps imagine a different way forward.

Because every thriving person creates a ripple. And enough ripples can change the world.

Microneedling: Your Skin Knows How to Repair Itself. Sometimes It Just Needs a Little Nudge.

If your skin goals include smoother texture, improved tone, softer fine lines, or reducing the appearance of acne scars, SkinPen® microneedling may be worth adding to your skincare plan.

Microneedling works by creating thousands of controlled microchannels in the skin, stimulating the skin's natural wound-healing response and supporting new collagen and elastin production.

The result? Gradual skin remodeling from within.
At Bonsai Medical & Aesthetics, we use SkinPen® Precision, a professional microneedling system designed for controlled, precise treatments.

Microneedling can be an excellent option for:

✨ Acne scars
✨ Uneven skin texture
✨ Fine lines and early signs of aging
✨ Enlarged-looking pores
✨ Overall skin rejuvenation
✨ Improving the appearance and quality of the skin

One of my favourite things about microneedling is that this isn't about changing your face. It's about encouraging your own skin to function at its best.

And because collagen remodeling takes time, results aren't necessarily an overnight transformation. Your skin continues its repair and remodeling process after treatment, with improvements developing progressively.

At Bonsai, we also believe that aesthetic medicine shouldn't be one-size-fits-all. We assess your skin, your concerns, your medical history and your goals before recommending a treatment plan.

Healthy skin. Thoughtful treatments. Natural-looking results.
