Less daylight means itโ€™s time to think about visibility and safety. With darker mornings and earlier sunsets, take a few extra precautions when youโ€™re walking, driving or heading out for the day.

๐Ÿšถ For pedestrians: Wear bright or reflective clothing, stay visible and use marked crosswalks. Make eye contact with drivers before crossing.

๐Ÿš— For drivers: Slow down in low-light conditions, watch carefully for pedestrians and cyclists, and be especially alert in school zones and at crosswalks.

โค๏ธ For families: Talk to kids about staying visible, using designated crossings and paying attention around roads and school drop-off areas.

A few simple changes can help everyone get where theyโ€™re going safely this fall! For more safety information or to learn about the health services, programs and resources we offer, visit cfpcn.ca.

On Wednesday, October 14, PCN staff from all teams gathered for our open house event, Building Connections in Care.

Over 20 tables showcased teams, programs and services across the PCN. Staff had the chance to meet with new and familiar colleagues, ask questions and enjoy games, treats and trivia. The goal was to better understand how we work together to support excellent primary care.

"Connecting with people from different teams opened my eyes to how much growth and innovation is happening across our organization," said Kim, PCN liaison and event attendee. It made me proud to be part of a workplace that continues to learn, collaborate and innovate."

On October 3, we took to the stage at the Family Medicine Innovation Forum to showcase Digital Access in Action, a project making it easier for health care partners to book patients directly into appointments.

We were honoured to receive a special Spread and Scale Support Package, which includes an opportunity to present at an upcoming Alberta College of Family Physicians (ACFP) summit and be featured in their newsletter!

We also showcased our Scaling Choosing Wisely project at a booth, sharing our work with others in primary care.

A big thank you to Liz Deneer, Director, Network Services for representing our team and sharing this work, and to the Alberta College of Family Physicians for the opportunity to showcase our innovation!

This weekend is a time to gather, reflect, and give thanks to others, but remember to make space to support your own mental health too.

Taking care of your mental health might look like:
๐ŸคSetting boundaries to help you from feeling overwhelmed
๐ŸคRecognizing when you need to take a break and having a plan to help you recharge

Your mental health matters to us, too. For help with strategies, tools and resources to support your mental health, talk to your primary care provider.

Remember, you do not have to wait until your mental health concerns feel overwhelming to ask for help. Ask for help any time to get the support you need to feel your best.

Cold and flu season is here, and the little things we do can help look out for ourselves and each other.

Wash your hands often, cover coughs and sneezes and give yourself time to rest at home when you're sick. These everyday habits can help reduce the spread of germs at home, work, school and in the community.

Feeling unwell? Pay attention to your symptoms and connect with your primary care provider or PCN team if you need support.

Team-based care gives you access to a range of health care providers, like dietitians, registered nurses, social workers and pharmacists. They work together with your family doctor or nurse practitioner so you receive the right care from the right provider at the right time.

All team members are your support system: they know your story and work together to meet your needs.

You get support that is:

โœ”๏ธ Flexible
โœ”๏ธ Connected
โœ”๏ธ From the health professional who can help you best
