We are happy to welcome Dennis Agbegha (Dennis Agbegha) as a panelist at the Brain Health Summit 2026.

Dennis is Director, Banking – Prairies at RBCx and an active voice within Calgary and Western Canada’s entrepreneurial community. His work places him at the centre of a network of founders, growing companies, investors, business leaders, and organizations working to build and scale new ideas.

Throughout his career, Dennis has worked across entrepreneurship, banking, economic development, and community building. This gives him a particularly practical view of what makes an innovation ecosystem work: access to the right relationships, capital, expertise, partnerships, and opportunities at the right stage of growth.

On November 4, 2026, Dennis will contribute to the Summit’s business-focused panel exploring how Brain Capital can move from a broad concept into practical action for organizations, employers, and Alberta’s innovation ecosystem.

We are happy to welcome Dr. Barrie Strafford Center for Learning Innovation and Quality of The Brenda Strafford Foundation as a Supporting Founding Partner of the Brain Health Alberta Summit 2026.

As Alberta’s population ages, advancing brain health requires greater attention to how we support older adults, particularly those living with dementia, cognitive decline, and complex care needs.

For more than 50 years, The Brenda Strafford Foundation has contributed to seniors’ care, healthy aging, and quality of life in Alberta. Through its continuing care communities, research partnerships, and commitment to person-centred care, BSF works to improve the experience of aging while advancing innovation in geriatric care.

Through the Dr. Barrie Strafford Centre for Learning, Innovation & Quality (CLIQ), the Foundation brings together healthcare professionals, researchers, and technology innovators to develop and evaluate new approaches to dementia care, healthy aging, and quality improvement in continuing care.

We look forward to welcoming The Brenda Strafford Foundation and CLiQ team on November 4, 2026, for a multidisciplinary discussion on brain health, innovation, and the future of healthy aging in Alberta.

We are excited to announce Harris Eyre as a Speaker for the Brain Health Summit 2026.

A physician, neuroscientist, entrepreneur and systems strategist, Harris is one of the leading international voices advancing the transition toward a Brain Economy. His work focuses on Brain Capital: recognizing brain health and brain skills as economic assets that influence resilience, productivity, innovation and inclusive growth.

As Executive Director of the Global Brain Economy Initiative and through senior roles and collaborations spanning Rice University, UTMB, McKinsey & Company, the Wharton Neuroscience Initiative and international policy organizations, Harris has helped advance concepts including the Brain Capital Index, brain-lens investing, brain-positive cities and workforce Brain Capital.

On November 4, 2026, Harris will bring the global perspective to Calgary and deliver the keynote Brain Capital and the Global Brain Economy. He will explore how Brain Capital is entering economic and policy conversations internationally, why investment in prevention, cognitive development, research and workforce brain health matters, and what Alberta could contribute to this emerging global movement.

We are proud to announce Eli Lilly and Company as the Leading Founding Partner of the Brain Health Summit 2026, supporting an important conversation on brain health as a strategic priority for Alberta.

On November 4, 2026, leaders from healthcare, academia, government, business, finance and community organizations will gather in Calgary to explore an important question:

How can Alberta strengthen its Brain Capital through earlier intervention, healthcare innovation and cross-sector investment?

As a global healthcare company with a longstanding commitment to scientific research and medical innovation, Lilly brings a valuable perspective to this conversation. Its work in Alzheimer’s disease research and the development of new treatment approaches underscores the importance of translating scientific discoveries into meaningful outcomes for patients, families and healthcare systems.

Yet advancing brain health requires more than scientific breakthroughs alone. It calls for collaboration among healthcare providers, researchers, policymakers and industry leaders to support earlier identification, improve access to innovation, promote healthy aging and address the broader economic and societal impact of cognitive decline.

Brain fog is a symptom which you may describe it as:

→ “My memory isn’t as sharp.”
→ “I can’t concentrate.”
→ “It takes me longer to think.”
→ “I keep losing my train of thought.”
→ “I feel mentally disorganized.”
→ “My brain just feels… foggy.”

These symptoms are real. But “brain fog” doesn’t tell us why they are happening.

Possible contributors can include:

😴 Poor or insufficient sleep
⚡ Chronic stress
🧠 Cognitive overload
💊 Medication effects
🩺 Chronic health conditions
🔥 Inflammatory conditions
⚖️ Hormonal or metabolic changes

Sometimes the explanation is relatively straightforward. Other times, cognitive symptoms deserve a closer look.

The important question isn’t simply “Do I have brain fog?”

It’s “Why has my cognitive function changed?”

If the symptoms persist, worsen, feel different from your usual level of functioning, or begin affecting your work or daily life, speak with a healthcare professional.

🎥 Also watch our video on cognitive overload. Constantly asking your brain to process, remember, switch between, and organize too much information can contribute to that familiar feeling of mental fog.

At NexCerebrum, we help patients investigate changes in memory, focus and cognitive performance and determine what type of assessment or next step may be appropriate.

Chronic stress can change your brain. When psychological stress becomes persistent, it can affect the brain systems responsible for:

→ memory
→ focus and decision-making
→ emotional regulation
→ your response to future stress

The hippocampus, prefrontal cortex and amygdala are particularly involved.

But your brain is not static. Neuroplasticity means it can continue adapting throughout life.

Mindfulness research suggests that regular practice can influence brain networks involved in attention and emotional regulation, with some studies also reporting changes in gray matter after structured mindfulness programs.

Here are 4 simple ways to start supporting your nervous system:

🧘 10 minutes of mindfulness daily
🫁 Box breathing when stress spikes
🌳 20 minutes in nature every day
📝 Write a worry list before bed instead of taking those thoughts to sleep with you

And remember: brain health is bigger than meditation.

If you’re experiencing persistent brain fog, memory changes, poor concentration, sleep difficulties or changes in cognitive performance, understanding why matters.

At NexCerebrum, we assess brain and cognitive health more comprehensively so that your strategy can be based on your individual risk factors, symptoms and goals.

🧠 Protect your brain before problems become impossible to ignore.
