Your lymphatic system doesn't exactly send a calendar invite when it needs a little attention.😉

How often you book a lymphatic massage really depends on what life looks like for your body.

Maybe you're feeling great and simply want to keep things moving. Maybe long days sitting, travel or salty meals have you feeling heavier and puffier than usual. Or maybe hormones are making their presence VERY well known.

That's why the answer isn't automatically "once a week" or "once a month."

Your routine, stress, sleep, movement, hormones and what you're actually experiencing all matter. We'll help you find a treatment rhythm that makes sense for your body.

Quick check-in: where does your stress settle? 🏔️

A — your jaw
B — shoulders & neck
C — lower back
D — somewhere else (tell us where!)

Comment your letter below and Julia, our RMT, will reply with a tip for that spot. If it's been sitting there a while, you can book with Julia through Jane — link in bio.

Steady, grounded, elevated care.

Shoulders up by your ears? Jaw clenched by 3 pm? Stress doesn't just live in your head. Julia explains where it settles and why it doesn't always let go by itself.

Your nervous system plays a bigger role in treatment than you might realize.

One of the goals of osteopathic treatment is to help move your body into a more parasympathetic state, where your nervous system can shift away from flight or flight and toward rest, recovery and repair.

And that matters.

When your system begins to settle, your body is in a better position to respond to the work being done. treatment provides the input, but your body still needs time to process it, adapt and continue responding after you leave the table.

That's why what you do do following an appointment matters too. Give your body some room to work with the treatment it just received.

The appointment may be over. Your body's work isn't.

It's not just a massage. And your body knows the difference.

Massage therapy goes beyond helping sore muscles feel better for an hour. The effects can reach multiple systems throughout the body.

Through therapeutic and targeted techniques, massage can help reduce pain and muscle tension, improve mobility and circulation, support lymphatic movement, and encourage the nervous system to shift out of that constant "go" state.

That nervous system response matters too. When the body is able to settle, it can support relaxation, sleep quality and overall recovery.

So while feeling good after your appointment is certainly part of it, there's much more happening beneath the surface.

Massage isn't simply something you do to relax. It can be an important part of taking care of how your body feels, moves and functions.

Is it safe to get a massage while you’re pregnant? 🤰

For most healthy pregnancies, yes. Our RMTs adjust everything for pregnancy: you lie on your side, supported by pillows, and the pressure is always your call.

Expecting parents often come in for low back and hip aches, tight shoulders, leg cramps, or simply an hour to rest. If your pregnancy is high-risk, check with your midwife or doctor first.

We wrote up when it’s a good fit and what a visit looks like on our website.

Stress doesn't always stay in your head. Sometimes, your body carries it too.

When you body has spent a long time in a stress response, that tension can start showing up physically. You may notice certain muscles that never seem to fully let go, areas that continually feel tight, or patterns your body keeps returning to.

For Julia, "unravelling" that means working with the physical body and giving those areas an opportunity to release.

And sometimes there is an interesting connection. A muscle begins to let go and you recognize what you've been holding there, or what was happening when that tension first started.

The goal isn't to force the body to relax. It's to work with what's there and give it the opportunity to finally let some of it go.

Because stress can be a whole body experience. And sometimes, so is the release.

What actually happens when a baby sees an osteopath?

It starts with a conversation about pregnancy, birth, feeding and sleep. Then very gentle, hands-on treatment. Lots of babies fall asleep on the table (or in your arms).

Pregnancy asks a lot of your body, and as it changes, the way you carry weight, move and even rest changes with it.

Prenatal massage is specifically adapted for pregnancy, using supportive positioning and hands on techniques to help ease common areas of muscular tension and discomfort, including the back, hips, shoulders and legs.

Every treatment is adjusted to the person on the table, how far along they are and what feels comfortable for their body that day.

Because prenatal isn't simply a regular massage with a baby bump. It's thoughtful, individualized care for a body doing some pretty incredible work.

These might sound like strong opinions, but they come from seeing the same patterns in the treatment room over and over again.

Where you feel pain isn't always where the problem started. Your breathing, sleep and stress can all affect how your body moves and recovers. And waiting until you can barely move before booking usually means there's something more to work through than there needed to be.

Osteopathy is about paying attention to the whole picture, not chasing one symptom at a time.

And yes, we'll happily die on that hill. 😉
