We don't have a varied terrain here on the farm. I've always loved rolling hills, the aesthetic beauty but also the biological benefit for the horses.

However what this beautiful sacred indigenous land does share is the coloured canopies from our Carolinian forest , nourishment for the horses and enough acreage to provide enrichment and community within the herd. 🙏

We know pigs have the intellectual capability of a toddler, but did you know they are incredibly emotionally intelligent?

The reality of owning horses is that it can escalate from the first image to the last very quickly.

The commitment is not part time, nor does it work on a schedule.
Plans change, emails wait and we hold on for the signs that the needle is moving in the right direction.

Thank you to the fabulous team here at Equi-Veda that show up without question to rig an IV or take off rain sheets , and fill water troughs!
So grateful 🙏

There is something profoundly meaningful about a horse choosing to be in our company, particularly when there is nothing being asked of them in return.

At Equi-Veda Wellness Centre, one of the most important principles guiding our work is that our horses have agency over their participation in every experience we offer. Their willingness to engage is never something we take for granted, nor is it something we believe we are entitled to simply because we care for them.

When we place a halter or saddle on a horse and lead them into an experience, we have already made a decision on their behalf. We may have the kindest intentions, but we have also removed an important element of choice. The interaction that follows may still be pleasant and meaningful, but it is not the same as one the horse has freely chosen to participate in.

Our horses are not here to perform healing, provide emotional comfort on demand, or fulfil an expectation of what an encounter with a horse should look like. They are individuals with their own personalities, preferences, boundaries and emotional experiences, all of which deserve the same consideration we hope to extend to the people who visit us.

Sometimes a horse will approach someone with curiosity and remain in their company. Sometimes they will engage briefly and wander away. And sometimes they may have no interest in participating at all. Each of those responses is equally worthy of our respect because it allows an authentic connection to unfold between two sentient beings.

We believe there is something deeply valuable in learning to receive another being as they are, without trying to direct the interaction toward an outcome we have already imagined.

After all, much of what we hope people experience at Equi-Veda is the freedom to reconnect with themselves without expectation, judgment or pressure to be anything other than who they are in that moment.
It seems only right that we extend that same freedom to the horses who make this work possible. 🙏

There's a special bond between a child and a horse, pure, honest, and wordless. They understand each other through trust, gentleness, and warmth of the heart.

In this simple moment lies more love than in a thousand speeches. Because a child who learns to love an animal grows with a soul that will never betray kindness.

There's always one that shows up late.. here it's Mr Truffles 🐷
Ironically he's the one with the most grievances to share that usually involve the timing of breakfast or dinner 😆

Ode to fall 🍂
This weather brings some happy horses and humans.
This is my favorite time to hang out in the forest, or stand barefoot in the middle of the horse fields 🌱

This is a time for consumption. Consume nutrient dense seasonal fruits and vegetables, consume nature's emotional nutrition and consume yourself with yourself.
Journal your deepest desires and who you want to be... Because just around the corner nature reminds us that letting go of what no longer serves us for this season Is inevitable.

If you're looking for a place to do just that, join us at Equi-Veda Wellness centre.

It's easy to get caught up in the mysticism of horses. Their massive presence, their loving hearts, the magic of how they make us feel. Horses are incredible, yet for the most part, we are not even remotely aware of what they actually offer. One of their gifts is the inherent ability to entrain the frequency of our hearts to regulate our minds, the exact state we must embody to be truly present. They want us to remember who we are, not what we have become.

Yet, when we step into 'their' space and our egos assume that horses inherently ground, regulate, and heal, we forget one vital factor, our energy influences them just as much as theirs influences us. They are not here to be used by us, nor should we assume they want to receive what we have to offer. As the incredible South African healer Candice Fraser notes, 'Horses are magical beings and the frequency at which they vibrate is profoundly healing to be around. But not every horse is here to serve as a medicine horse, therapy horse, or to do healing work with humans.'

When our ego guides any session, bodywork, or interaction with them, horses leave their bodies. Their somatic awareness in time and space shifts to involuntary, unconscious processing.
Spiritually, horses and birds are truly the closest things to the other side we have in this realm. Birds are the messengers from the other side, and horses are divine love here to remind us of ours. But human behavior creates a stark juxtaposition in the horse, instantly shifting them from conscious presence to a space outside of themselves. When we approach instead with gratitude and invitation, we know right away whether they have something to share, or something they need to receive.
There are a lot of wonderful healers who can guide you through your healing journey with horses.
I'm here to share how to heal horses through theirs.
