Something big is starting in Strathroy—and we want you to be part of it. 💙

More ways to get active. More opportunities to connect. More support for those who served.

On November 11, The Casual Athlete’s new virtual program launches in honour of Remembrance Day and our local veterans. With our partners at Avail Medical, we’re helping our Royal Canadian Legions bring fitness and community together—in person and online.

Here’s where it begins:

📽️ New technology. New possibilities.
Strathroy’s Sir Arthur Currie Branch 116 will receive a laptop, projector, and large screen to bring virtual programming into the Legion. Every Legion branch that joins the initiative will receive the same technology package.

💪 Equipment people can take home.
Each participating branch will also receive Battle Boxes—compact home gym kits that members can borrow to help them get started, build strength, or support rehabilitation.

Eligible, approved veterans can receive their own Battle Box to keep at no cost to them. Depending on eligibility and approval, support can also extend to larger equipment, including quality rowing machines.

🥋 First up: PEACEKEEPERS.
Join veteran and instructor Andrew Kennedy for weekly virtual Kung Fu classes exploring the movement, focus, and traditions of Lohan Palm and Xin Yi.

Recorded sessions and short instructional videos will also be available so participants can practise wherever they are.

🏋️ Coming in January: RALLY POINT, in person and online.
Our resistance training program will broadcast live each week, connecting participating Legions and people joining from home. You can also attend in person at Strathroy Branch 116.

Each class will combine practical exercise with useful education, with options for different abilities and starting points. That’s the TCA approach: helping you find your way into fitness.

This starts locally, with a vision to connect Legion communities across the country.

We’re proud to take this next step alongside Avail Medical, Branch 116, and the people helping make it happen.

And we’re only getting started.

Please share this post to help us reach veterans, their families, and Legion branches that could benefit. Follow The Casual Athlete for launch details and what’s coming next.

Fitness for the Rest of Us. Support for those who served us.

Targeted Pain Support, Made For You.

Your service was unique, your care should be too.
At Avail Medical, we offer individualized compounded pain creams, formulated by prescription to address your specific type of pain, including:
• Muscle & soft tissue discomfort
• Joint and arthritis pain
• Localized pain areas
• Neuropathic pain

We’re proud to work in partnership with a Veteran-owned compounding pharmacy, teammates who understand the mission.

Veterans can access these options through an appointment with our pain specialist, and coverage may be available through Medavie Blue Cross. If prescribed, creams are mailed discreetly right to your door.

Because your care should be as individual as your service. We’ve got your six. 🇨🇦

Talk to our care team to learn if this option may be right for you.

Incredible Opportunity for Our Veteran Community!

At Avail, we are passionate about supporting our veterans through every stage of their journey. We recently received a message from our friends at the Veterans Transition Network regarding a fantastic upcoming program, and we wanted to share it with you all!

The VTN is hosting a Men’s Transition Skills Course in Nova Scotia this fall, designed specifically to help former and active military/RCMP members transition smoothly into civilian life.

🗓️ The Details:
When: September 27th – October 2nd, 2026

Where: A beautiful, peaceful retreat center in Hubbards, NS (about 35-40 minutes outside of Halifax).

"Drop the baggage" of operational stress injuries.

Navigate civilian life, communication, and goal planning.

Strengthen relationships at home and recover personal resiliency.

⚠️ Note: To ensure this valuable session can run, they need a minimum of 4 participants. If you or a veteran in your life could benefit from this, please reach out right away! Every participant must commit to all 5 days and complete a quick, informal intake interview.

Home is more than a line on a map. It’s the quiet of the morning, the space to breathe, and the freedom we look out at every single day. But that peace wasn't given - it was built, step by step, by the individuals who put the uniform on and carried the weight of this country on their shoulders.

This Canada Day, we hold space for the sacrifice and the unwavering dedication of our veteran community. Your service shapes the very ground we walk on. To those who served, those who stood watch, and those who continue to carry the quiet pride of service - thank you.

We see you, we honor your journey, and we remain standing ready to support you - today and every day after.

Holiday Hours & Support Contact:

Our team is here and available today until 1:00 PM. We will be closed tomorrow for Canada Day and will return on Thursday at 8:30 AM.
