What an amazing day yesterday! Our Board Members and staff met to review and further develop our strategic plan. It was a day of laughs, tears, and gratitude as we reflected on how far we have come over the last 10 years, and how we want to continue to show up for our community!

Restorative Yoga - Huntsville!

In this 6-part series, Allie will show you how to create a safe space for you and, in that safe space, to work with your body (your pain, symptoms etc) to chart a new path forward in your relationship to you. Using the principles of Yoga and its many philosophical facets, you will find a new language to navigate this time that you are in. Each class will begin in Savasana, the deepest posture of relaxation, and will follow a restorative path throughout the hour. Restorative yoga finds its power in the awakening of the vagus nerve and the relaxation response to lower inflammation and restock the shelves of our taxed adrenals after acute stress. We will use props to meet ourselves exactly where we are, not where we wish we could be. This is a deep practice of self-awareness which is followed by compassion which is, in turn, followed by acceptance and even love.

This 2 session program will bring clarity to your values and preferences, and help you or someone you care for navigate a life changing diagnosis.

Bee the Anchor - Wellness Program for Caregivers'

A supportive program designed to give caregivers practical tools, skills and resources to manage the emotional and physical demands of caregiving.
The program is free and consists of a weekly video, done on your own time, and a weekly online meeting.

Friday 12pm-1pm via zoom.
Starting October 16th for 8 weeks

Kathy became involved with Enliven and Huntsville Hospice following her husband’s death and the years of caregiving for him, as well as her parents, that preceded it. Having experienced firsthand the ebbs and flows of a cancer diagnosis, the loss of loved ones and the toll it takes on all involved, she welcomed opportunities to support others who are living through these same experiences. Working with both organizations has involved peer and grief support training, completing the Fundamentals of Palliative care course and ongoing workshops that relate to supporting caregivers and those who have experienced the death of a loved one. In addition to facilitating the upcoming Bee the Anchor sessions Kathy is also a co-facilitator of the Adult and Children’s Grief Group programs offered by Huntsville Hospice.
