On this National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, we continue to honour the healing journeys of residential school survivors and their families. We encourage you today to consider your relationships with the Indigenous peoples and your place on the land. It is our hope that this ongoing conversation regarding the legacy and impacts of residential schools will help ensure the recognition of the Indigenous peoples and the need for reconciliation.

On this episode of Let’s be Blunt, Montel talks with Mark and Christy Zartler. They are parents to twin daughters, one of which, Kara, suffers from Autism and Cerebral Palsy and struggles with severe self-injurious behavior related to her condition. Whole plant cannabis has helped to relieve some of her symptoms when traditional medications didn’t. That wouldn’t be a problem if they lived in a legal medical cannabis state, but they live in Texas. The Zartler’s risk the wrath of law enforcement and Child Protective Services (when Kara was younger) in order to bring their daughter the only medication that brings her relief from her self injurious behavior. They are sharing their story in hopes of helping other families who are coping with similar situations.
Hi everyone as some of you may know I live in Ontatio and the government has allowed the police to stop anyone and ask what they are doing. I work with children who have various challenges including autism so I wanted to create a social story and emergency card. Please feel free to make a copy of this for your child or loved one print it out, share it far and wide. I tried to work hard on this to make it understandable and useful for a wide range of children. "If the police stop me (social story to read before leaving my house until Ontario covid-19 restrictions are lifted)"

Hey there! I just wanted to pass along a HUGE thank you!! A while ago you provided an opportunity to register and participate in a mail order mystery. I was super lucky to be able to register my 8yr old daughter and we are currently working through a pirate mystery. My daughter is absolutely loving this and we’re having a blast together! Right now I’m sitting here listening to my daughter virtually sharing all the details with a little friend. They are both so excited and are currently entrenched in researching and discussing who they can and cannot trust and are also trying to find info on the Internet about pirates and people involved in the mystery. This is seriously the best!!! Thank you for the wonderful opportunities you give our kids!! Not only has this brought excitement and fun into our lives, it’s also given my daughter an opportunity to collaborate with a friend and have some much needed socialization. ❤️
I offer coaching to youth 15-22 with autism. If you want your sons life to change for the better please email [email protected]
