🔥 Topic: Gathering Around the Fire: Building Community Connections Through Moon Time Knowledge
📅 Date: Monday, October 26, 2026
🕛 Time: 12:00 p.m. CST
📌 Registration Required: https://bit.ly/484CjPv
📣 Presenters: Jenelle McArthur, Community Connections Facilitator, and team members from Moon Time Connections.

How can communities work together to bridge gaps in support, strengthen relationships, and foster well-being?

Through the metaphor of gathering around a fire, this session explores how people, organizations, and service providers can bring their unique experiences, strengths, and gifts together to respond to community needs.

We will showcase Moon Time Connections (MTC), a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing menstrual equity, Moon Time education, and cultural connection. Working alongside nearly 300 northern and remote Indigenous communities, MTC provides free menstrual products, Nation-specific Moon Time stories and knowledge, and opportunities for shared learning.

This come-and-learn session will introduce participants to MTC’s work, available resources, and the role of trained Moon Time Facilitators in supporting individuals and communities. Together, we will explore how collaboration among healthcare providers, researchers, non-profit organizations, and community members can build bridges between services and resources, strengthen belonging, and create culturally grounded pathways toward well-being.

Who should attend: Healthcare providers, researchers, non-profit organizations, community organizations, and community members interested in menstrual equity, Moon Time education, and collaborative approaches to wellness.

October 4 | National Day of Action for MMIWG2S+

Today, we remember and honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, and stand with the families, Survivors, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and communities who continue to call for justice.

The National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls released its final report, Reclaiming Power and Place, in 2019. The report includes 231 Calls for Justice addressing the systemic causes of violence and calling for change across governments, institutions, health and social services, industries, and communities.

Remembering is important, but so is learning and taking action.

We encourage everyone to take time to learn about the MMIWG2S+ Final Report and the 231 Calls for Justice, listen to Indigenous voices, and reflect on what meaningful action can look like in our own communities.

We honour those who are missing and those whose lives have been taken, and we stand with their families and communities who continue to seek justice.

Remember. Listen. Learn. Act.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

On September 30, Roots to Wellness Research Collaboratory joins communities across Canada in recognizing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

This day is an opportunity to honour residential school Survivors, their families, and the children who never returned home. It is also a time to learn about the history of residential schools and the lasting impacts they continue to have on Indigenous communities.

Truth and Reconciliation requires more than remembering one day each year. It asks us to listen to Indigenous voices, learn from their experiences, reflect on our own responsibilities, and take meaningful action.

As a research community, we are committed to continuing this learning and supporting respectful relationships with Indigenous communities throughout the year.

We encourage our community to take time on September 30 to learn from Indigenous-led resources, listen to Survivors and community members, and reflect on what reconciliation means in our own lives and work.

We remember. We listen. We learn. We act.

🔥 Topic: Gathering at the Fire: Walking Together Through the Seasons of Life
📅 Monday, September 28, 2026
🕛 1:00–2:00 PM CST
📌 Registration is required: https://uregina-ca.zoom.us/meeting/register/AF6qiCiRTKaoO_KHwbT0pw #/registration
📣Presenter: Jenelle McArthur, Community Connections Facilitator

This lived-experience presentation places the gathering fire at the heart of community connection, belonging, compassion, and healing. The fire becomes a metaphorical gathering place where we bring our stories, emotions, teachings, laughter, grief, food, and presence.

Through an Indigenous-centered relationship with the natural world, the seasons and elements reflect the many experiences we carry and share with one another. Like people gathering around a fire, community invites us to slow down, listen deeply, hold space, and recognize that everyone has something meaningful to bring. Through empathy and compassion, we learn that we do not have to walk the land of the unknown alone.

The fire connects us; community keeps it burning.
