For years, Michelle has helped care for others. Then a warm blanket reminded her what that care feels like. 💙

As a Respiratory Therapist with Home Oxygen at STEGH, Michelle Vader wants patients to have what they need, when they need it.

That commitment extends beyond her work. Michelle began supporting patient care through payroll giving in 2014 and increased her regular gift following the pandemic.

“My patients mean the world to me. I don’t need recognition. I just need to make sure that our patients have what they need.”

Following her own surgery in March, Michelle experienced that thoughtful care from the other side. She remembers the kindness of the Operating Room team and one small gesture: someone noticed she was cold and brought her a warm blanket.

“Honestly, the warm blanket made a huge difference.”

It was a simple moment that reflected the care she has spent her career believing in: compassionate, thoughtful and centred on the person behind the patient.

Through payroll giving, Michelle supports that care consistently, one pay at a time.

After seven years, what an incredible feeling to bring our community back together for the 2026 STEGH Foundation Gala, presented by Elgin Eye Institute and Somaè Aesthetics & Wellness!

Our Ruby Jubilee was more than a celebration of 40 years of community impact. It was a reminder of the generosity, compassion and commitment to local healthcare that makes St. Thomas and Elgin County so special. There was something extra special about celebrating in Aylmer, complete with a little background music from the cows across the road! 🐄

Whether you joined us for an unforgettable evening, placed a bid in our silent auction, supported as a sponsor, or made a gift to support our newest fundraising campaign, you helped make a meaningful difference.

And what a night it was! 🎉

Thanks to our incredible guests, sponsors, volunteers, donors and everyone who helped bring this evening to life, the Gala raised $230,000 in net proceeds for surgical care at STEGH!

And there's even more to celebrate! Combined with generous donor commitments made before the event, we're thrilled to share that $350,000 has been raised in support of our newest campaign! 🙌
