Central west families came together for some fun at Streetsville Bowl. We even had a surprise visit from Santa! Thanks to everyone who came out and thanks to Always Connected for partnering with us in this fantastic event!
This past weekend the Central West team and families had the priviled to meet with Steve, Cidalia and the Four Colours Drum Circle at Heart Lake to partake in drumming and song, while learning about Indigenous teachings and their beautiful Medicine Wheel Garden! We benefited from Indigenous teachings, got to offer prayer ribbons for children lost in residential schools and even saw some snapping turtle nests! It was a wonderful experience for everyone.
On September 30th the drum circle will be hosting a Truth and Reconciliation Round Dance. (Note this is NOT an AO event) Check them out at www.thisisacircke.com

Central West enjoying Indigenous wisdom on a Saturday morning!
This past weekend the Central West team became one with nature and history. Along with an intrepid group of adventurers we joined Brad Howie, Indigenous Education Coordinator with Conservation Halton at Crawford Lake on an insightful look into the Indigenous history of the area. We toured longhouses, learned about early agriculture practices and traditional medicine. Thank you Brad, for the incredible experience and thank you to the families who joined us! We hope to do it again!
Last week the Centrel West team paid a visit to Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre to check out the Mindful Hearts program. Facilitated by Melissa Lawson, this program incorporated nature, art and of course mindfulness for kids aged 6-13.
Thank you to everyone at the centre for creating such empowering and positive programs for autistic youth. You not only gave these kids a chance to be creative, you also provided them with the opportunity to connect and thrive.
We couldn’t do this without you!
A special thank you to all the kids who gave it their all, and the parents for enrolling them. For future programs here and elsewhere keep checking here and the website! #autismawareness #autisminclusion
