The Art of Healing: Meet our Practitioners!

Meet Richard, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) at MĀ Wellness & Yoga, now welcoming new clients in person and virtually Fridays 8am-2pm.

Richard believes meaningful change begins with undoing aloneness and creating connection. His approach is warm, thoughtful and collaborative. He offers a space to explore life’s challenges with curiosity and compassion, and a little humour along the way.

He draws on attachment-based, relational psychotherapy to help clients understand how past experiences, relationships, and emotions shape how they move through the world today. His work also supports clients in exploring and healing relational trauma through experiential work, developing greater self-awareness and psychological flexibility, and helping clients approach their emotions, thoughts, and parts of themselves in new ways.

His areas of focus include:

• Healing relational and childhood trauma
• Supporting autistic and highly sensitive individuals
• Recovery from childhood bullying and its lasting effects
• Life transitions, including newcomers to Canada
• Navigating relationship changes
• Exploring identity and meaning
• Cultivating emotional awareness and self-understanding

Richard holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and has trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). He also draws upon Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in his practice.

Direct billing is available for eligible extended health plans. Book online through Jane App here: https://mayoga.janeapp.com/ #/staff_member/75 or contact our front desk to learn more.

Join us at MĀ for a Four-Week Grief Series, a compassionate, supportive space to explore grief, connection, and healing.

Through guided reflection, trauma-informed yoga, mindfulness, sound healing, and gentle discussion, we’ll create space to honour your experience while discovering supportive practices for navigating loss.

Water Season: Finding Balance in the Fire Horse Year

With Charles De Goede Herlaar

In the Lunar Solar Calendar, November and December mark the Water Element Season—a time to turn inward, replenish our reserves, and reconnect with the quieter, more restorative qualities of Yin.

This Water Season holds particular significance during the Yang Fire Horse year, as Water represents the polar opposite energy of Fire. The meeting of these opposing elements can create both tension and opportunity.

Join Carley for an afternoon of exploration into the Water Element and the energetic landscape of the Fire Horse year.

Carley will introduce the Bazi Chart, a Chinese astrological map, and explore the elemental Qi present in the year of the Fire Horse. By understanding the qualities and patterns of this Qi, we can become more conscious of how we work with it—learning to navigate its intensity and direct it in ways that better support our lives.

In the Chinese Zodiac, the Fire Horse represents the peak of Yang, while the Water Rat represents the peak of Yin. The Horse and Rat are traditionally understood to create a clash, bringing themes of polarity, tension, and transformation. Together, we will explore how to reframe clashing Qi—not as something to resist, but as an opportunity to find greater balance, awareness, and ease.

This workshop offers a chance to pause and check in with how your year of the Fire Horse is unfolding, while learning how to realign with the seasonal and cosmic Qi to better support your highest self.

Carley will also share stories and teachings about the Pig and Rat, the Water Element animals, and their relationship with the Fire Horse.

You will leave with practical Feng Shui, meditation, and movement practices to incorporate into your home and daily life throughout the Water Element Season.

The afternoon will conclude with a guided meditation and gentle sound bath, offering space to integrate, settle, and reconnect with the quieter wisdom of Water.

Today is Śarad Pūrṇimā, one of the most auspicious full moons in the Hindu calendar, celebrating abundance, divine love, and spiritual awakening.

Śarad means autumn, and Pūrṇimā means full moon — symbolizing fullness, clarity, and grace.

Honouring Goddess Lakṣmī, Lord Kṛṣṇa, and Chandra Dev, this sacred night invites us to pause and reconnect.

✨ A Little Yoga Sādhana for today

✨Stillness: Sit beneath the moonlight. Breathe, soften, and simply be.

✨Bhakti: Light a diya, offer gratitude, and chant Om Śrīṃ Mahālakṣmyai Namaḥ.

✨Svādhyāya: Reflect on the abundance already present in your life.

✨Sevā: Share a simple act of kindness or generosity.

✨Tradition: Offer rice kheer (rice pudding) or milk beneath the moonlight briefly, then enjoy it as prasādam.

✨ May this full moon remind us that true abundance begins with recognizing the fullness within.

ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥
Om Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ

Through an introduction to the BaZi Chart and the relationship between Water and Fire, we’ll explore how opposing energies can become opportunities for greater balance, awareness, and transformation.

Ancestors Tea Ceremony

With SJ ☽

Nov 1 6-8PM
Investment $40
Cha Dao - the Way of Tea, is a practice of presence and connection. Seated in circle, we share in the silence and beauty of tea prepared with intention, allowing the ceremony to settle the mind into the heart, and open us to what is here.

On this night when the veil is thin, we dedicate the practice to honouring those who came before us. Through the quiet ritual of tea, we create space to remember, to grieve, to give thanks — to feel the presence of our ancestors and beloved passed, connected through our hearts.

You are warmly invited to bring photos of your loved ones who have passed, and to make offerings at our community altar. No experience with tea ceremony is needed.
