Every Ahead check-up starts from the same foundation: full-body MRI, 80+ blood biomarkers, or both. The add-ons are how it becomes yours.

Mamma MRI for a radiation-free, in-depth look at breast tissue (especially with dense tissue or family history, and especially worth knowing about this month). MRI-based prostate screening as a structured baseline for men. DEXA for bone density and body composition in about 15 minutes. Deeper hormone panels for women and men. None of them are upsells for everyone, each has a "who it's for", and the booking questionnaire plus our team help you decide what fits, or whether the base check-up is exactly enough.

All add-ons explained on our website. Link in bio.

Here's a thought before the first cold snap: your winter resilience isn't pure luck, part of it is measurable, right now.

Vitamin D supports your immune defence, and at Swiss latitude your skin makes very little of it from October onwards, so this month shows you the reserve you're taking into winter. Ferritin, your iron storage marker, shapes energy and oxygen delivery; running low is often misread as "winter tiredness". And hsCRP, a sensitive inflammation marker, tells you whether your body is already quietly busy in the background.

None of these are things to fear. They're things to know now, while there's still time to adjust before the season tests you.

This Sunday the clocks go back, one hour gained, and one rhythm to renegotiate.

Light isn't just scenery for your body, it's an input: your internal clock calibrates to daylight, so suddenly darker evenings can nudge sleep timing, energy and mood while everything adjusts. It's a good weekend to reset a consistent sleep window, sleep quietly shapes recovery, appetite regulation and focus. And a note for the months ahead: from now until spring, your skin produces barely any vitamin D at this latitude, which makes the darker season the classic moment to know where you stand.

Enjoy the extra hour. Your body will spend it recalibrating.

Endometriosis is often called a "silent" disease. For most women who have it, it isn't silent at all. It's been silenced, by the idea that severe period pain is just part of being a woman.

The numbers say otherwise: roughly 1 in 10 women of reproductive age are affected, and on average 4 to 11 years pass between first symptoms and a diagnosis. Pain that disrupts your life, severe menstrual pain, chronic pelvic pain, pain during in*******se, deep fatigue, is a signal, not a character trait. A pelvic MRI can give a detailed view and map deeper lesions without surgery, though a clear scan can't fully rule out mild disease, so persistent symptoms always deserve follow-up.

If your pain has ever been waved off, consider this your permission slip to keep asking.

Back problems are Switzerland's most common health complaint: in one federal survey, 47% of women and 39% of men had dealt with them within a single month.

Here's what most people don't know: pain is a late signal. Your spinal support depends on two muscle groups, the deep multifidus for fine control and the erector spinae for global support, and their quality can shift years before anything hurts. MRI can measure fat infiltration inside these muscles, a marker of muscle quality that no scale, mirror or standard X-ray shows. You can look lean and fit while that support quietly changes.

The encouraging part: muscle responds to training at any age. Seeing where you stand is what makes the training targeted.

18 October is World Menopause Day, a good moment to retire the idea that menopause is "just hot flashes".

Menopause is one of the most significant hormonal transitions a body goes through, and much of it happens where you can't feel it: cholesterol balance shifting, bone density declining 2–3% per year in the early postmenopausal years, sleep architecture changing, visceral fat and insulin sensitivity drifting, and yes, the brain fog is real, and research suggests it's largely temporary.

The encouraging part: all of this is measurable, and knowing where you stand is what turns a confusing decade into a manageable one.

"Why don't you just test everything, every time?"

Fair question. Dr. med. Anna Erat's answer: because more markers isn't better, better markers is better. A biomarker earns its place when it's actionable, when the result would actually change what you do. From the 80+ biomarkers a check-up measures, your doctor flags the handful worth tracking for you, based on your results, your history and your goals. Then the real value begins: re-testing that shortlist over time, because trends carry more information than any single number.

It's also why we're openly skeptical of biomarker inflation, testing everything, always, everywhere. Data should serve decisions, not decorate dashboards.

2nd place at the Ironman World Championship. Congratulations, Laura Philipp.

Behind one day in Kona: a season of decisions most people never see. A hospital setback, a hard withdrawal from a race she loved, a rebuild guided by data instead of hope. "Without the data, you're just training and living in the dark."

The result is one day. The process is measured all year.

The most common question from people who are almost ready to book: "Do I need the MRI, the blood test, or both?"

Think of it like this: blood is the software, how your body is functioning right now, across 80+ biomarkers. The MRI is the hardware, the actual structure of your organs and tissues, which blood can't see. Each catches what the other misses, which is why many members start with the combined check-up. But there's no wrong door: the booking questionnaire tailors everything to your history and goals, and our team helps you choose before anything is fixed.

Deciding is the hardest step. The rest is one visit.

Everyone says "I'm stressed". Almost nobody can say what that's doing to their body. Some of it, though, is measurable.

Cortisol, your main stress hormone, follows a daily rhythm, and sustained load can shift it. DHEA-S, a hormone involved in recovery, is often read alongside it. And your body keeps its own dashboard too: sleep quality, resting heart rate, how you recover, and, for women, cycle changes, which often register stress before anything else does.

To be clear: no marker diagnoses burnout, and a single reading is a snapshot, not a verdict. But read in context, your numbers turn a vague "it's too much" into something you can work with.

World Mental Health Day is 10 October. A good week to check in, with yourself, and with your data.
