Not every physiotherapy session looks the same, and that’s okay. 💚
When working with anxious animals, sometimes the biggest achievement isn’t completing a full treatment plan. Sometimes it’s simply sitting on the mat together for five minutes. Sometimes it’s doing one or two gentle exercises. And sometimes it’s just helping them feel comfortable having me in their space.
Many of the animals I see are already dealing with pain, discomfort, or physical limitations, so it’s completely understandable that they may feel worried, uncertain, or overwhelmed in a new situation.
Building trust takes time, and that trust is an important part of the rehabilitation process. When an animal feels safe, relaxed, and understood, they’re much more likely to engage with treatment and make positive progress.
A huge thank you to the owners who are patient with these “get to know you” sessions. Your understanding and willingness to go at your pet’s pace makes all the difference and helps set them up for long-term success.
If you have an anxious, nervous, or unsure pet, please know that they’re not alone. I work with many animals who need a little extra time, patience, and understanding to feel comfortable with treatment. Every session is tailored to the individual animal, and I’m happy to move at a pace that works for them.
