The Illusion of the "Spiritual Ego" on Social Media
I am so fed up with the spiritual community on platforms like TikTok lately. It feels like it’s overrun with massive spiritual egos, constant arguments, and people giving out unauthenticated advice while their own lives are an absolute mess.
We see creators trying to heal others while completely ignoring their own inner work, spending all their time chasing clout, stroking their egos, and fighting for followers. I’ve genuinely experienced some of the worst of it on there. It’s hard not to notice that many big creators don't actually care about you—they are only there for themselves, fighting for their image while you are trying to fight for your soul's liberation.
As Shams Tabrizi wisely noted:
"There are more fake guides, teachers in the world than stars. The real guide is the one who makes you see your inner beauty, not the one who wants to be admired and followed."
It’s easy to get sucked into the noise, drama, and toxic competition of online spaces. But we need to remember what actually matters. Hold on tightly to the genuinely good, authentic people you find. This generation has so many people driven entirely by ego, money, and status, and as a result, good souls get worn down daily.
Keep your head up, protect your peace, and be deeply conscious of the energy you give out and choose to connect with. And whenever it all feels like too much, just remember the bigger picture...
"Don't take stuff so seriously, remember... you are here."
