18 MONTHS⏳️ 4 WEEKS 📅 ONE INCREDIBLE BREAKTHROUGH ✨️

18 months ago, Edward suffered a heart attack and multiple strokes, leaving him with limited movement down the left side of his body.

Today, for the first time in 18 months, he opened his left hand! 👏

We're just 4 weeks into his rehabilitation sessions at Fitness Rush, and we're already seeing significant improvements in his movement.

Through a combination of TENS, massage gun therapy, cupping and targeted exercises, we're exploring different techniques to support his recovery🏋‍♂️

But what impresses us most is Edward's incredible mindset, determination and positivity!

It's an absolute privilege to work with him, and we're learning so much about the remarkable capabilities of the human body along the way 🧠

We can't say exactly what contributed to today's breakthrough, but what an incredible moment to witness!

❤️ Sometimes the smallest movements represent the BIGGEST achievements!

Edward’s journey is a reminder that progress can come in many forms ❤️💪

This was our third week training together at the Cambourne Health and Wellbeing Hub 🏋️‍♂️ We focused on balance ⚖️ and movement on the left side of his body which was affected by a heart attack and strokes 18 months ago.

Edward also tried different techniques during the session to stimulate the nerves on that side ⚡ The response was amazing, and it was a special moment to see him working through the exercises and experiencing sensations he hasn't felt in a while🙌😊

Every session is another chance to build confidence 🌱, keep moving forward 👣 and celebrate what the body can do 🎉 We’re proud of the effort Edward is putting in and feel privileged to be part of his journey 💙

Remember, you might be someone’s goal, even though you have further to travel on your own journey ✨

A full week out in the community 💙

Monday — We were back at the Eaton Socon Community Health Hub. Returning members, new faces and the same great effort from everyone.

Tuesday — A school day in Peterborough, with sessions at Stanground and Manor Drive. Fitness, football and some fantastic outcomes along the way. ⚽

Wednesday — Youth exercise at Coleridge Community College and North Cambridge Academy, followed by a visit to our friends at the Grafton Centre to meet with our Centre School attendees. We also travelled into the Soham and Littleport communities to continue our youth engagement.

Thursday — Cambourne’s turn to enjoy our mobile health hub, with a focus on rehabilitation, resilience and building routines.

Friday — Week six at Fairway School in St Ives. Our Level 1 learners are nearing the end of their courses, and their fitness training is reaching new heights. The Year 7s also did brilliantly in their training today. 👏

And that’s only the community work. Alongside it, we’ve had personal training at our Old Hurst facility, a visit to our clothing printers, meetings, funding bids and acceptances, logistics, progress reports, site visits, social media content and all the other work that keeps Fitness Rush moving.

A busy week, and a lot to be proud of. 💙💪

💙 INSPIRATION COMES FROM THE PEOPLE WE MEET! 💪

Today we had our second session with Edward, a Cambourne resident who has been through more than most of us could imagine.

Whilst out riding his bike, Edward suffered a heart attack, causing him to black out and subsequently be hit by a car. As a result of everything that happened, he was left with a loss of feeling down his left-hand side.

But that hasn't stopped him from wanting to improve his health and keep moving forward. 👏

During today's session, we adapted the exercises around Edward's abilities, finding different ways for him to move, build strength and benefit from exercise.

What was particularly encouraging was that Edward even experienced some returning sensation on his left side during some of the techniques we used. ❤️

It's still early days, but moments like these remind us why we do what we do.

One of the greatest parts of our work isn't just delivering exercise. It's getting to know the people behind the challenges, hearing their stories and understanding what they've been through.

It's been a real pleasure getting to know Edward and hearing about his journey, and a privilege to be part of the next chapter.

Exercise isn't always about lifting heavier, running faster or losing weight. Sometimes it's about achieving something that many of us take for granted.

And something I think we should all remember...

💙 You might feel like you've still got a long way to go on your own journey, but you could already be exactly where someone else is hoping to get to.

Never underestimate how much your progress might inspire someone else.

Keep going, Edward. We're looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together! 💙💪

💙 SOMETIMES IT'S ABOUT SO MUCH MORE THAN EXERCISE...

Today was another great reminder of why we do what we do. 🙌

Whilst working with some young people in schools across Peterborough today, we had some really interesting conversations in between the exercise circuits.

We talked about life, the pressures of today's society, relationships, expectations and some of the struggles they're facing.

And it got me thinking... 🤔

As adults, we often talk about the pressures we face. Work, relationships, finances and everything else life throws at us.

But sometimes we forget that life's struggles don't suddenly begin when we become adults. They start much earlier.

It's easy to look at young people in our communities and focus on those who might be making the wrong choices, causing disruption or getting themselves into trouble.

But what about all the good they're doing? What about their talents, ambitions and potential? 🌟

We work with some absolutely fantastic young people, many of whom have so much to offer but perhaps haven't always had the opportunity, encouragement or recognition they deserve.

⚽ Today, we even got to play a bit of football with one young lad who is already playing for a major football club and has a really promising future ahead of him.

It was brilliant to see his talent, but equally brilliant to have a conversation with him and get to know the person behind it.

And he's just one example of the many young people we have the privilege of working with.

Not every young person who faces challenges is a problem. Sometimes they just need someone to recognise their potential, listen to them and give them a chance. 💙

That's why, at Fitness Rush Community, exercise is often just the starting point.

It's the conversations between the exercises, the relationships we build, the confidence we help develop and the opportunities we can help create that really matter.

👏 We need to spend just as much time celebrating what our young people are getting right as we do talking about what they're getting wrong.

Because there's an awful lot of good out there, and today was another reminder of that. 💙

“FREE? HOW CAN IT BE FREE?” 🤔

We get asked this a lot. Sometimes people are waiting for us to say, “Well, actually, there’s a catch…” 👀

But there isn’t. It’s free. 🙌

Our mobile exercise sessions are supported through grant funding or funded directly by Fitness Rush. Our team also gives up their time because we believe in giving back to the communities we work in. 💚🤝

We see our sessions as a bridge 🌉: a chance to build confidence, learn more about exercise and hopefully find the spark ✨ that helps people keep going in the future. 💪

There’s no obligation to sign up for anything or pay for something afterwards. We may signpost people to other activities that could have a cost, but that’s entirely their choice.

While we’re delivering in your community, you can come along and take part for free. That’s all there is to it. 😊

Weekly update 💪🚐

We’ve been back at our four-hour health and exercise hubs in Eaton Socon and Cambourne, welcoming people in for tailored exercise, health checks and wellbeing support 🏋️‍♀️💚

Alongside our ongoing work at Stanground Academy, Manor Drive Secondary Academy in Peterborough and Fairway School in St Ives, we started working with three new schools in and around Cambridge: Coleridge Community College, North Cambridge Academy and Centre School Cottenham 🎒 We’re supporting young people by using exercise as a starting point, then helping them develop their skills through fitness qualifications 📚

Our community outreach sessions in Soham and Littleport are making a real difference. Young people are getting involved, building confidence and finding positive ways to use their time. It’s great to see them benefiting from the support and enjoying the sessions 🙌

This week, we also had the opportunity to visit ARU Peterborough and speak with a group of Master’s students in Health and Social Care. They’ll be studying our data as part of their course. They were really engaged, and there were plenty of thoughtful questions 👏

And Fitness Rush Old Hurst has been on point too: new faces, new goals reached and the same unwavering effort from everyone 🎯

What an amazing week across Cambridgeshire! 🙌✨

Young people have been getting involved in sessions at schools and in their communities 🏫🤸‍♀️, while people over 40 are taking steps to support their wellbeing and reduce the risk of long-term health conditions ❤️💪

We’ve also seen individuals at our Old Hurst facility working towards their own goals 🏋️‍♂️🌟 Every journey is different, and each person is the hero of their own story. Our role is to support them, help them through barriers and cheer them on along the way 👏😊

This is our fifth year in a row being recognised at the awards, and we’re incredibly grateful. We’re especially proud of Jacinta and Torby, whose hard work and dedication have earned them a place on the shortlist too.

🏆 What a week for Fitness Rush!

We started the week with the fantastic news that we’ve been invited back to the National Fitness Awards, with four nominations!

⭐ Liam has once again been shortlisted for Outstanding Achievement, after he and Catherine won the award together last year.

🚐 Our mobile fitness facilities have been shortlisted for the Innovation Award. It’s brilliant to see our cutting-edge, forward-thinking facilities recognised as one of the standout innovations in the fitness industry for 2026.

💪 Two of our long-standing members, Torby and Jacinta, have both been shortlisted for the Member Achievement Award. Their strength and determination to overcome the odds and flourish throughout their fitness journeys have been incredible to witness.

This fantastic news gave us some great momentum going into another busy week!

📍 On Monday, we launched our new wellbeing hub in Eaton Socon, followed by the opening of our Cambourne hub on Thursday. We met some amazing individuals at both locations and are looking forward to supporting them over the coming weeks.

At Cambourne, we also met a family who homeschool their children, so we’re creating some PE sessions for them. If you know any homeschooling families, there may be an opportunity for us to provide PE sessions within their local community too.

🏫 On Tuesday, we continued our school programmes at Stanground and Manor Drive in Peterborough.

We also completed our final youth outreach session in Soham for now, where we’ve made some brilliant connections and hope to return in the near future. We then began our new outreach programme in Littleport, meeting some great young people and families.

📅 On Wednesday, we visited three more schools in Cambridge to confirm plans for new programmes starting on 7 October.

☀️ To finish the week, we were back at Fairway School in St Ives today for week three of our education and exercise programme. The Year 10 and 11 students are working well through their Level 1 Award in Active, Healthy Living, while the other year groups enjoyed some fun fitness in the sunshine.

A busy week, a proud week and plenty more to come! 💚
