🎆 HAPPY 5TH NOVEMBER! 🎆
✨ Remember, remember… the power of FIRE! 🔥

But have you ever wondered what fireworks might represent through the eyes of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)?

In Chinese medicine, Fire is one of the Five Elements and is associated with:

❤️ The Heart – Fire is linked to the Heart, which in TCM houses the Shen (our spirit, consciousness and emotional wellbeing).

✨ Joy & Happiness – The Fire element is associated with joy, laughter, connection and feeling alive.

🔥 Warmth & Energy – Fire symbolises warmth, transformation, light and the movement of Yang energy.

🎇 Light in the Darkness – Fireworks can be seen as a beautiful symbol of bringing light, warmth and brightness into darker days.

💫 Sound & Movement – Their explosive energy can be viewed symbolically as movement and release, although TCM doesn’t prescribe a specific healing meaning to fireworks.

🌿 A LITTLE TCM REMINDER

Just as fire needs balance, so does our body.

In TCM, too much Fire can be associated with restlessness, agitation and disturbed sleep, while balanced Fire represents warmth, joy and connection.

So tonight, enjoy the sparkle, embrace a little joy and remember to look after your inner fire. ❤️

🎆 Happy Bonfire Night from Ashi Therapies!

🌿 HAVE YOU TRIED A LITTLE TUMMY MASSAGE? 🌿

Did you know that in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), gently massaging your tummy is a lovely way to support your digestive health and encourage the smooth flow of Qi (energy)?

In TCM, the abdomen is closely connected to the Spleen and Stomach, which play an important role in digestion and transforming the food we eat into energy.

✨ Why give your tummy a rub?

🌿 Encourages relaxation and helps ease feelings of tension.
🌿 May help relieve mild bloating and digestive discomfort.
🌿 Supports gentle bowel movement.
🌿 Encourages circulation around the abdominal area.
🌿 Helps you reconnect with your body and slow down.

💕 HOW TO DO IT

1️⃣ Find somewhere warm and comfortable to lie down.

2️⃣ Place your hands gently on your tummy.

3️⃣ Using your palm, make slow, gentle circular movements around your belly button in a clockwise direction (from right side to left)

4️⃣ Continue for 3–5 minutes, using comfortable pressure. No need to press hard!

5️⃣ Finish with a few slow, deep breaths.

⏰ WHEN IS THE BEST TIME?

• In the morning to gently wake up your digestive system.
• In the evening as part of your relaxation routine.
• When you’re feeling a little bloated or sluggish.

Try it daily and make it part of your self-care ritual. ❤️

Remember, in TCM it’s not always about doing more – sometimes it’s about slowing down, nurturing your body and allowing things to flow.

🌸 At Ashi Therapies, we believe in looking after the whole you.

👀 WHAT YOUR EYES MAY REVEAL IN CHINESE MEDICINE

🌿 The Five Elements & Your Eyes

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the eyes are traditionally viewed as a window into the body’s internal balance. We look at any redness, puffiness, dryness and dark circles as part of a wider picture of health and wellbeing.

Here’s how the Five Elements traditionally relate to the eyes 👇

🌳 WOOD | Liver + Gallbladder
Redness, irritation or itchy eyes are traditionally associated with Liver Heat or Qi stagnation in TCM. Stress, frustration and feeling emotionally overwhelmed are often considered in this pattern.

🔥 FIRE | Heart + Small Intestine
Redness, irritation or watery eyes may traditionally be considered in relation to Heat patterns, particularly around the inner and outer corners of the eyes.

🌍 EARTH | Spleen + Stomach
Puffy eyelids, heaviness or tired-looking eyes are traditionally associated with Dampness and the body’s fluid balance, which TCM links to the Spleen and Stomach.

🌬️ METAL | Lungs + Large Intestine
Dryness around the eyes and a feeling of irritation may be considered alongside the TCM concept of Lung dryness and the body’s relationship with moisture.

💧 WATER | Kidneys + Bladder
Dark circles, particularly under the eyes, and a tired appearance are traditionally associated with Kidney patterns in Chinese medicine.

✨ What does this mean for you?

In TCM, no single sign tells the whole story. We consider the wider picture, including sleep, digestion, stress, energy levels and other symptoms, rather than looking at the eyes in isolation.

🌿 At Ashi Therapies, we take a holistic approach to wellbeing.

🌿 DO YOU LIKE SPRING ONIONS? 🌿

Did you know that in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), spring onions are more than just a tasty addition to your meals? 🧅✨

🌱 Why are they so good for you?

In TCM, spring onions are considered warming and pungent, helping to move Qi and support the body’s natural balance.

💚 They may help to:

🌿 Support Lung Qi – Traditionally used to help the body deal with the early stages of a common cold, especially when you feel chilly.

🌿 Disperse Cold – Their warming nature is traditionally believed to help release external Cold from the body’s surface.

🌿 Promote Qi circulation – Their pungent flavour is associated with encouraging the movement of Qi and helping to ease feelings of stagnation.

🌿 Support digestion – Spring onions can add flavour to meals while providing fibre and beneficial plant compounds.

🌿 Seasonal wellbeing – Adding fresh spring onions to soups, broths and stir-fries is a lovely way to bring warming flavours into your diet as the seasons change.

✨ A little TCM tip: Try adding freshly chopped spring onions to a warming homemade soup or broth. Simple ingredients can be a wonderful part of a balanced diet!

🌸 At Ashi Therapies, we believe that small, mindful choices can be part of your overall wellbeing.

🍂 DECLUTTER YOUR HOME, CLEAR YOUR MIND 🍂

Did you know that in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), decluttering is about more than just tidying up?

🍁 THE LUNGS — LETTING IN THE NEW

In TCM, autumn is linked to the Lungs, which are associated with breathing, grief and sadness. Creating a calmer home can be a gentle way to make space for fresh energy and a clearer mind.

🍂 THE LARGE INTESTINE — LETTING GO

The Large Intestine is associated with elimination and releasing what we no longer need. Symbolically, this can include old belongings, unhelpful habits and emotions we may be holding on to.

💭 STORING GRIEF

TCM associates grief with the Lungs. While decluttering isn’t a cure for grief, letting go of things that no longer serve us can become a meaningful ritual of release and renewal.

✨ YOUR AUTUMN RESET

🍁 Clear one drawer or cupboard.
🍁 Open the windows and welcome fresh air.
🍁 Donate items you no longer need.
🍁 Take a few slow, mindful breaths.
🍁 Be gentle with yourself — one small step at a time.

❤️ NOW, MAKE SOME SPACE FOR YOU!

Once you’ve finished decluttering, why not treat yourself to some time to relax?

At Ashi Therapies, acupuncture can support relaxation and overall wellbeing as part of a personalised approach to self-care.

🍂 HAVE YOU TRIED SHARON FRUIT? 🍊

Also known as persimmon or kaki fruit, Sharon fruit is a gorgeous seasonal fruit that deserves a place on your autumn shopping list! 🧡

But did you know that, from a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective, this fruit has some interesting qualities?

🌿 SHARON FRUIT & TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE

As the weather turns colder and drier, TCM encourages us to nourish our bodies and adapt our diet to the changing season.

🧡 Nourishes Yin and Moistens Dryness
In traditional Chinese food therapy, persimmon is considered cooling and moistening. It is traditionally used to help nourish fluids and soothe dryness, particularly when autumn brings dry conditions.

🍂 Supports the Lungs
Autumn is associated with the Lung system in TCM. Foods that moisten dryness are traditionally valued at this time of year, especially when we experience a dry throat or dry mouth.

✨ Supports Healthy Digestion
Sharon fruit contains dietary fibre, which helps support normal bowel function and digestive health.

💛 A Little Nutritional Goodness
Persimmons provide fibre, vitamin A precursors and antioxidants, making them a colourful addition to a balanced diet.

🌸 A LITTLE TCM TIP
Enjoy your Sharon fruit ripe and soft as part of a varied autumn diet. In TCM, balance is important, so if you tend to feel cold or have a sensitive digestive system, you may prefer smaller portions rather than eating lots of cooling foods.

Remember, TCM food therapy is a traditional approach to wellbeing, not a substitute for medical advice or treatment.

🧡 At Ashi Therapies, we love sharing simple ways to support your wellbeing throughout the seasons.

💬 Tell us in the comments — have you tried Sharon fruit, or is it going on your shopping list?
