Don't forget! Please share this. Peanut and Berry are walking for the Foundation and are little characters in themselves. Despite being disabled themselves, they work hard to bring a bit of joy to the humans they meet.

A share and a like would help and, if you can, make a little donation! All in a good cause to help people manage the disabilities of the children they care for.

For Day 1 of Carers' Week

Children of Foster Carers Week | Day 1

This week, we're celebrating the children of foster carers, who open their hearts right alongside their parents. And we're starting with a moment that warmed our hearts. 💙

A foster carer's daughter, Oceana, made this handprint canvas together with Amelia, a young person who has stayed with their family. This small piece of art has become something their whole family treasure. Two colourful handprints, side by side. Different in size but placed together, just as these two young people have walked beside each other.

Through knowing Amelia, Oceana has grown in kindness, patience, and empathy. She has learned that love doesn't have to be permanent to be real. That saying goodbye doesn't erase the bond created.

Amelia may leave their home, but she will never leave without having made a difference. She has left her handprint not only on this canvas, but on Oceana's heart.

We'll be sharing more stories like this throughout the week.

Peanut and Berry are well known faces in Hythe and after finding their own home willing to help with their disabilities they want to help raise money to support respite and foster carers of disabled children.

These little ponies are going to do a sponsored walk for the Credo Care Foundation on 7th November. The link is below. Please consider sharing and donating as every amount of money will go to improving the lives of disabled children in care.

We all need a holiday sometimes, especially when our work is demanding and needs us to be in top shape. This is very true of anyone who looks after a disabled child. With the best will in the world, meeting the basic needs of a child with complex medical issues needs the carer to be in top-shape both physically and mentally. Having the opportunity to take a short break is reasonable and necessary in order to keep up the highest standards of care for someone so vulnerable.

While the exact figures aren't available from OFSTED or the ONS, we estimate that approximately 100,000 disabled children in England may currently lack an adequate short-break service, with a reasonable evidence-based range of approximately 50,000 to 150,000 children. There is no official national measure of unmet short-break need, so these figures should be regarded as market estimates rather than government statistics.

Central to short-breaks is the availability of respite carers - those who willingly give up their homes to take in and care for disabled children so that their regular carers can get the break they need. However, the lack of people who are able to provide respite care means that these breaks cannot take place.

The Credo Care Foundation exists to help respite carers make necessary alterations to their homes in order to provide such a crucial service which they can't get from local government funding.

Your donations to the Credo Care Foundation will help us to ensure that respite carers get the financial support they need, and that more carers can get the rest they deserve. To donate, please see the links on our side panel, or the link below:

We would like to introduce our Vice Chair of Trustees, Roy Hipkiss.

Dr Hipkiss co-established Credo Care - Disability Fostering with Damien Mead in 2000 having been inspired by his family who fostered, He has considerable practical experience as a fostering Social Worker and he brings that expertise to support both carers and the disabled children they foster.

Dr Hipkiss is passionate about the Credo Care Foundation and is motivated by service development. It is his personal mission to help young people who have disabilities (in care) benefit from a loving foster home rather than have to live their lives in long-term residential or hospital settings. It is no surprise that, in his role as Vice Chair of Trustees, he is always looking for ways to support those who care for disabled children.

In his spare time, Dr Hipkiss has an interest in classic cars and their maintenance, He has also been known to enjoy the odd Abba concert.

Meet our Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Damien Mead.

Dr Mead helped found Credo Care Fostering Agency with Roy Hipkiss in 2000. His current role with the Agency includes chairing the meetings of the Board of Directors. With a background in caring for adults and young people with disabilities, including Independent Living Schemes, Dr Mead has seen Credo Care - Disability Fostering thrive over the course of a quarter century.

It is as a result of Credo Care's success that the Credo Care Foundation was born as a charity, separate from the Fostering Agency, but seeking to continue that same drive for all those who are looking after children with disabilities and complex medical needs.

In his spare time, Dr Mead enjoys reading, theatre and cinema. He has also been known to play Risk and Scrabble (and Pooh sticks) quite competitively.

For 26 years, Credo Care Fostering has sought to place disabled children into loving homes.

And we at the Credo Care Foundation seek to support those carers and children in the best way we can.

We bridge the gap for those who care and are proud to do so!

26 YEARS OF CHANGING LIVES, TOGETHER 🎉

Today, we celebrate 26 years of Credo Care Fostering. 💙

Since 2000, we’ve been dedicated to finding loving family homes for children and young people with disabilities and additional needs, helping them experience the care, belonging and opportunities that every child deserves.

But 26 years isn’t just a number. It’s hundreds of children and young people who have been welcomed into family life. It’s foster carers who have opened their hearts and homes. It’s the families, staff, support workers, specialists and wider Credo Care community who have stood alongside them every step of the way.

And it’s 26 years of believing in what children and young people deserve and can achieve.

To everyone who has been part of our journey, thank you. 💙

Here’s to 26 years of making a difference, and to the many more lives we can change together.
