Seven months into the Lived Experience Panel project in collaboration with and Walthew House - Stockport's Centre for the Deaf and Blind

We've already achieved so much together.

We have a research project planned, a strategic influencing plan taking shape, and an exciting visit to Parliament in the diary.

Along the way, we've explored Deaf identity and related themes. Members have told us they feel more confident, more knowledgeable and more connected to one another.

Next month we'll begin preparations for filming for a social media campaign - we can't wait to share it with you all!

At our latest Bee Youth Heritage Project session, young people explored the history of British Sign Language, learning about key moments in Deaf history and discussing the importance of BSL within the Deaf community. They also got creative by designing and painting baubles for Manchester Deaf Centre's 180th Anniversary celebrations.

It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved in the quiz, creative activities and discussions about Deaf identity, pride and heritage. A huge thank you to all the young people, staff and volunteers who made the session such a success.

Fantastic news for Trafford’s Deaf community! 🎉

Deaf people can drop in for advocacy support with whatever they need help with.

And we’re launching it this Friday 9th October!

Our Wellbeing Group recently came together for a special"Making and Saving Memories" session, celebrating both Manchester Deaf Centre's 180th Anniversary and our Deaf Heritage Project. Participants enjoyed creative arts and crafts, shared stories, created keepsakes for our anniversary celebrations, and spent valuable time connecting with friends old and new.

Participants told us the day helped them feel relaxed, connected, confident and proud of their Deaf identity. Creative activities, meaningful conversations, heritage storytelling and delicious refreshments all contributed to a fantastic day of wellbeing and community connection.

A huge thank you to our staff, volunteers and members who made the day so special. Together, we're celebrating Deaf culture, preserving Deaf heritage and creating lasting memories for future generations. 💜
