Here on the south bank of the Humber, in Stallingborough, CATCH, HETA, Reynolds Training Services, Maersk Training, RPA Training, Roxby Training Solutions and Safety and Access are working together to deliver the skills our industries and communities need.

In the last 12 months, collectively, we have:
Worked with 994 employers

From engineering and manufacturing to offshore wind, hydrogen and industrial decarbonisation, our work is helping build the skilled workforce needed for UK growth, reindustrialisation and energy security.

But specialist training needs a sustainable future. In a joint letter to the Prime Minister, we are calling for fairer funding, more sustainable apprenticeship delivery and recognition of Independent Training Providers as essential partners in delivering the UK's ambitions.
The skills, expertise and ambition are here. With the right support, we can achieve even more.

Together, we’re ready to work with Government to unlock that potential and create opportunities for businesses, people and communities.

In scaffolding, the difference between profit and loss often starts with the estimate.

From the first enquiry to the final quotation, estimating is one of the most critical commercial skills within a scaffold business.

That’s why Safety & Access is running a Scaffolding Estimator Course led by industry expert Paul Crabtree, who brings over 50 years of experience in the scaffolding industry.

Paul has worked across every level of the business, from the tools, to estimating, to managing multiple depots and has supported scaffold companies through major commercial disputes and adjudications worth hundreds of thousands (and even millions) of pounds.

His message is clear:

Good estimating
Clear quotation wording
Understanding the contract

These three things can prevent many commercial problems before they begin.

What the course covers

✔ Identifying customer requirements
✔ Practical use of estimating formulae
✔ Measuring drawings and site dimensions
✔ Material breakdown and costing
✔ Writing effective scaffold quotations
✔ Understanding contract pitfalls and variations
✔ Introduction to computer-based estimating
✔ Practical estimating project exercises

This course is ideal for:

• Scaffold estimators
• Contracts managers
• Depot managers
• Supervisors moving into estimating roles
• Scaffold company directors

If your business wants stronger commercial control over scaffold projects, this course provides practical knowledge from real industry experience.

Scaling Heights, Building Futures!

What better way to introduce the next generation to scaffolding than by giving them a chance to experience it first-hand?

We're proud to have partnered with Constructed Pathways and Lysander Scaffolding to deliver a two-day scaffolding taster session at the Waterbeach Construction Skills Hub in Cambridgeshire.

Organised alongside the Youth Impact Programmes Team, the sessions gave participants an introduction to the skills, safety awareness and teamwork involved in becoming a scaffolder, combining classroom learning with practical, ground-level activities.

And this is just the beginning!

With the construction industry facing a genuine skills shortage, initiatives like this are helping young people discover the opportunities available in a skilled, rewarding trade.

As our General Manager, George Gilbert, explains:

"Scaffolding is one of the most important, and most misunderstood, career pathways in construction. It is a highly regulated, safety-critical trade that demands skill, teamwork and real professional discipline."

We're delighted to be supporting participants as they explore the next steps towards recognised qualifications and potential careers in scaffolding.

A huge thank you to Constructed Pathways, Urban&Civic, Lysander Scaffolding and everyone involved in making the sessions possible.

Because building the future of construction starts with investing in the people who will build it.

𝗖𝗜𝗦𝗥𝗦 & 𝗖𝗦𝗖𝗦: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀?

You may have seen the recent announcements about CISRS and CSCS. But before anyone starts worrying about their cards, here's what you need to know.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴?

CISRS has formally given notice to end its licence to use the CSCS logo from 1 June 2027.

Under the current plans:
- From January 2027, CISRS will become the *Competence In Scaffolding Record Scheme*.
- From June 2027, new and renewed CISRS cards would no longer display the CSCS logo.
- Existing CISRS cards will remain valid for their normal duration.
- CISRS training, qualifications and assessment routes will continue.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁...

Discussions between CISRS, CSCS and industry bodies are ongoing, and an agreement could still change the outcome.

Questions also remain around how cards without the CSCS logo would be recognised for access to construction sites.

𝗦𝗼, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘄?

Keep your training and card renewals on track, follow official updates and avoid making assumptions about future site-access requirements.

At Safety & Access, we're keeping a close eye on developments and will continue to share relevant updates with our customers.

Whatever happens with the logos, competence, training, and safety remain the priority.

Advanced skills. Practical challenges. Real scaffolding expertise.

It's been great to see our skilled candidates putting their knowledge and experience to the test during our recent CISRS Advanced Scaffolder training course at Safety & Access in Nottingham.

From constructing staircase scaffolds to completing their end-of-course dead shoring assessment, candidates demonstrated the advanced technical skills, precision and understanding needed to tackle complex scaffolding structures safely.

These aren't everyday scaffolding tasks. They require careful planning, a thorough understanding of scaffold structures and the confidence to apply advanced techniques safely.

A fantastic effort from everyone involved, and a great opportunity to showcase the skills that go into more complex scaffolding work.
