Last month, we turned 14!

Perspectum started as a University of Oxford spin-out with one premise: to develop solutions for major unmet needs in diagnostic medicine.

"Happy 14th birthday, Perspectum! Fourteen years of turning innovation into better care for patients, powered by an incredible team and partners who share our vision. We are proud of how far we have come and excited for the impact still ahead."
Warren Cresswell, CEO, Perspectum

To everyone who has been part of the journey so far, thank you. On to the next chapter.

In adults with high blood pressure, MRI found MASLD in 59% of those without type 2 diabetes and 73% of those with it. Yet liver and heart problems didn't tend to appear together.

At the AASLD Liver Meeting in Denver, Perspectum and our collaborators are presenting five posters and a talk on how liver disease is measured.

The REMODEL study in Singapore scanned the liver and heart of 193 adults with high blood pressure, 92 of whom also had type 2 diabetes. Standard heart tests looked much the same in both groups, but MRI showed subtle differences in heart function in people with diabetes.

In 51 people scanned again around five years later, changes in weight tracked with changes in liver fat and in cT1, a measure of liver disease activity. Heart measures showed little link with weight change.

Your patient with type 2 diabetes has MASLD. How active is their liver disease?

LiverMultiScan is software as a medical device that analyses MRI to give a non-invasive, non-contrast assessment of liver health. It is safe and pain-free.

It reports three quantified metrics, for interpretation by trained healthcare professionals:

cT1 (iron-corrected T1), a measure of liver disease activity. The upper limit of normal is 800 ms; values above this threshold indicate increasing levels of liver disease activity.

PDFF (Proton Density Fat Fraction), the liver fat fraction. The upper limit of normal is 5%; values above this threshold indicate hepatic steatosis of increasing severity.

Liver iron concentration (LIC). The upper limit of normal is 1.8 mg Fe/g of dry liver tissue; values above this threshold indicate hepatic iron overload of increasing severity.

LiverMultiScan supports clinical decisions across diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and patient management.

How are you assessing liver disease activity in your patients with type 2 diabetes today?

New publication from the RADIcAL 1 study: people with MASH report a lower quality of life, and the drop tracks with liver disease activity.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is often described as silent. This study, published in Quality of Life Research (Springer Nature), asked 802 participants with suspected MASLD how they actually feel, using the EQ-5D questionnaire, and compared the answers with imaging results.

What the results showed:
Participants with MASH reported lower quality of life across every EQ-5D domain and on the EQ-VAS than those with MASLD alone.
People with high-risk MASH reported up to 12% more problems, with the largest gaps in usual activities and mobility.
Each 80 ms rise in cT1 was linked to 29% higher odds of reporting anxiety or depression and a 0.023 point fall in EQ-5D index score.

Why it matters: a disease that rarely causes symptoms can still weigh on everyday life, and imaging biomarkers may help identify the patients carrying the greatest burden.

Led by Elizabeth Shumbayawonda and Marika Hancock with the RADIcAL 1 collaborators. Thank you to the full author team.

We're heading to AASLD The Liver Meeting 2026 in Denver, November 5 to 9.

Eleven members of the Perspectum team will be at , presenting five posters and one oral presentation. You'll find us at booth #1055.

For clinicians: see how LiverMultiScan supports non-invasive liver health assessment, with quantified metrics for liver disease activity (cT1), liver fat fraction (PDFF) and liver iron concentration to inform clinical decisions across diagnosis, treatment and monitoring.

For pharma and clinical development teams: talk to us about quantitative liver imaging biomarkers in liver disease trials, from screening and enrichment through to measuring change over time.

To book time with the team at the booth, email [email protected].

We'll share more on what we're presenting in the coming weeks.

Best Poster at the 12th Paris MASH Meeting went to our digital pathology team. Congratulations to lead author Dylan Windell and everyone behind the work!

MASH is a form of steatotic liver disease, where fat build-up comes with inflammation and liver damage. Trials of new MASH treatments depend on pathologists scoring liver biopsy slides. So the team asked a simple question: do AI measurements agree with what the experts see?

In biopsy slides from 156 people with MASLD or MASH, PAIR™ MASH measurements agreed with scores from two expert pathologists: fibrosis (scarring, rho 0.78), fat (rho 0.67), ballooning (rho 0.62) and inflammation (rho 0.41).

Many people know us for imaging. Fewer know we also have a experienced pathology team that provides central histology reads for over 10 active phase 2 and 3 clinical trials.

There's more to come at The Liver Meeting in November.

Cardiovascular disease rarely occurs on its own.

It develops alongside the conditions that influence it: type 2 diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, and liver fat that accumulates silently for years.

That is why cardiovascular risk is increasingly understood as cardiometabolic risk. People living with MASLD (metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease), for example, carry a higher risk of cardiovascular disease.

The information that matters for the heart may not always be found in the heart alone.

This World Heart Day, look at the whole system, not one organ.

At Perspectum, we build quantitative imaging technology for exactly this: a whole-system view of cardiometabolic health.

Perspectum has appointed Warren Cresswell as Chief Executive Officer, effective 15 September 2026.

Warren has spent more than 25 years in life sciences across diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and laboratory services, and has held the role of chief executive twice previously. At Prometheus Laboratories, a Nestlé Health Science company, he was President and Chief Executive Officer and led the diagnostics business through a period of significant growth.

"Warren has the leadership talent and experience that are the right match for Perspectum at this time in its growth and development," said Dr. Michael Rosenblatt, Chairperson, Perspectum.

Welcome, Warren.

We are proud to announce that Principal Cardiovascular Scientist Masliza Mahmod was awarded Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) in Munich, pictured here with Prof Marco Roffi, ESC Vice President. The Fellowship recognises the highest professional standards and commitment to reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease, alongside sustained contribution to the Society. Masliza has spent her career in cardiovascular medicine, research and imaging, with particular expertise in cardiac and metabolic imaging. Seeing that recognised by her peers meant a great deal to all of us.
