Treating long-standing verrucas that patients have been battling with for years is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

This patient had been living with a painful verruca for over 5 years, with no success from previous treatments. After just 2 sessions of SWIFT microwave therapy, we’re already seeing some fantastic improvements! 🙌🏼

We’ve now scheduled a 3-month follow-up review, allowing time for the body’s immune response to continue working following treatment.

8th October | International Podiatry Day 🦶🏼

Today has had me reflecting on my 10-year career in Podiatry — and what a journey it has been.

Podiatry is still a profession that isn’t always well understood.

So, when you think feet… think Podiatrist. 🦶🏻

Just like:
👓 Optician → Eyes
🦷 Dentist → Teeth
🦶🏻 Podiatrist → Feet

From skin and nail conditions, ingrown toenails and minor surgery, to foot and ankle pain, biomechanics, sports injuries and complex diabetic foot care.

Over the last 10 years, this profession has given me the opportunity to work across the NHS, private practice and internationally.

Some of my most pivotal experiences came early in my career working within high-risk NHS diabetic foot clinics. These experiences shaped the clinician I am today and gave me a real understanding of the importance of early intervention, education and looking beyond the presenting symptom.

I’ve also been incredibly fortunate to work overseas in the United Arab Emirates, where I had the opportunity to educate patients about diabetes and the importance of foot health — even learning to communicate this in Arabic along the way.

Now, two years into private practice, I’m bringing all of those experiences together and applying them to the clinic I have always wanted to create.

A clinic where time matters. Quality matters. And getting to the root cause matters.

I always want my patients to feel listened to, to understand why they are experiencing their symptoms, and to receive evidence-informed, individualised treatment rather than simply treating what is immediately in front of us.

10 years as a Podiatrist. 2 years in private practice. And I still feel like I’m only getting started.

There is still so much I want to learn, develop, introduce and apply to my clinical practice — and that is one of the things I love most about this profession.

Here’s to the next chapter of Podiatry. 🦶🏼✨

Heloma durum (HD) is the medical term for a corn 👣

Corns develop due to repeated friction and pressure, often caused by footwear, foot structure and the way we walk.

This patient came to us with what he described as “pain under the heel”, having struggled with it for 18 months. He had been self-treating with no success.

On assessment, we discovered 10 fibrous HD corns that were contributing to his pain. These were carefully removed, providing much-needed relief. ✨
