Sometimes, it's not about how far you've walked. It's about what it took to get there
Today, surrounded by the breathtaking waterfalls, ancient woodland and rugged beauty of Wales, I found myself reflecting on just how proud I am of my wife, Chantelle
Like me, Chantelle has lived with hip pain. She knows what it's like when something as simple as walking becomes painful, uncomfortable or exhausting
Then three years ago, whilst walking on Snowdon, she suffered a horrific elbow fracture that required surgery, pins and plates
It was a horrible experience, and recovery hasn't always been easy.
So watching her today, navigating slippery rocks, uneven ground, steep slopes and challenging terrain, was something quite special.
Because I know what that takes.
I know what it's like to have your body let you down. To lose confidence in movements you once took for granted. To wonder whether you'll ever be able to do certain things again.
And I know the courage, patience and determination it takes to keep going.
Today wasn't about breaking records, reaching summits or proving anything to anyone.
It was about being together.
Exploring. Laughing. Getting soaked by waterfalls. Breathing in the fresh air. Feeling the earth beneath our feet.
And appreciating what our bodies are still capable of.
Sometimes our greatest achievements aren't measured in miles, kilograms or personal bests.
They're measured in moments.
A confident step across a slippery rock.
A climb up a steep hillside.
A smile from someone you love.
Or simply standing together, surrounded by nature, grateful to be there.
I don't think Chantelle always recognises just how strong she is.
Not just physically, but in her determination to keep moving forward, despite everything her body has put her through.
And today, watching her explore these beautiful waterfalls, I felt incredibly proud of her.
Because strength isn't always about what you can lift, how fast you can run or how far you can walk.
Sometimes strength is simply having the courage to try again
To trust your body
To take that next step
And to rediscover the freedom to enjoy the things you love
I'm proud of you, Chantelle
