In my regular meeting with the ICB, I received an update from the NHS Integrated Care Board on plans for a Health Centre in Eastwood.

£250,000 has been allocated to develop a business case, and work is underway to design a Neighbourhood Health Centre that could bring together GP services, community healthcare and other local services for Eastwood and Giltbrook.

The business case is an important stage in ensuring that the ICB and Broxtowe Borough Council proposal is deliverable and aligns with the government's 10 Year Plan for the NHS. New government capital funds have enabled this plan to move forward, and I am pleased to hear that this stage should be completed around March 27.

From the ICB: “We remain committed to improving health facilities in Eastwood, which is one of our highest priorities for future primary care estate investment, and we have allocated £250,000 this year to develop the business case with Broxtowe Borough Council. That work is an important step towards developing a deliverable scheme and securing the capital investment necessary to take it forward.”

There is still work to do around the site's layout and funding, but it's encouraging to see real progress being made. I'll continue to press for improved local healthcare facilities and keep residents informed.

💜 Building on our commitment to Domestic Abuse Awareness across Nottingham West PCN 💜

Today, we held our second Domestic Abuse Awareness Training session, this time bringing colleagues together from across our Eastwood practices for another important and thought-provoking session.

Delivered by the fabulous Chris from Broxtowe Women's Project Ltd, with Clare, our PCN Clinical Lead for Health Inequalities, supporting the session, the training gave colleagues an opportunity to strengthen their awareness, reflect on learning from a local domestic abuse-related death review, and consider the vital role we all play in recognising and responding to domestic abuse.

Domestic abuse can affect anyone, and primary care teams are often uniquely placed to recognise when someone may need support. Building confidence, understanding and awareness across our teams is an important step towards ensuring people receive the right support at the right time.

A huge thank you to Chris for sharing her expertise and to all our colleagues who took the time to attend and engage with this important work. 💜

Following our first session in Beeston & Chilwell, it is fantastic to see this work continuing across the borough, with training for our clinical teams also planned. We are committed to making sure that health inequalities and safeguarding are not just things we talk about, but things we actively address in our everyday practice.

Together, we can help make primary care a safer, more informed and supportive place for people experiencing domestic abuse. 💜

Two years in the making. One shared vision. And today, it finally felt real. 💙

Today we hosted our first network meeting at Eastwood Community Hub, bringing together many of the teams and services who will be working together as part of our new 🌟Health & Justice Partnership🌟

From next week, Probation will be based at the Hub every fortnight on Thursday afternoons, alongside a Health Connector with lived experience of the justice system and a PCN volunteer, helping people navigate and connect with the support around them.

In the room today were colleagues from the South Nottinghamshire Probation team, Change Grow Live (CGL), PCN mental health occupational therapy, PCN care coordination, Broxtowe Borough Council and Adult Social Care, with social prescribing, Sexual Health, Citizens Advice, Housing, CVS, Employment Support and many other services also part of this partnership.

The passion in the room was palpable.

Different organisations

Different expertise

But a shared vision and determination to provide support that truly makes a difference for people navigating multiple complex systems.

There was a real sense of “together we can achieve more!” and after two years of bringing this vision to life, we’re so excited that next week, it all begins. 🌱
