You pick up certain occupational habits in aesthetics that are hard to switch off.

You notice how faces move when people talk. You become strangely invested in tiny changes nobody else would spot. You find yourself mentally correcting the lighting in every before-and-after photo you see.

And apparently “What would you do to my face?” is a perfectly normal dinner conversation 😅

But the bit I probably enjoy most is the judgement behind it all. Working out when a tiny adjustment will make a real difference, when someone needs a completely different approach, and when the best thing to do is leave well alone.

That’s also why I’m such a fan of subtle work. If you look fresher, healthier and more like yourself, rather than obviously treated, that’s usually a very good result in my book.

If you’re curious what I’d actually recommend for you, book a consultation via the link in my bio or DM me the word PLAN 💌

Aesthetics has become very good at looking like beauty, and sometimes I think that’s part of the problem.

Polished clinics, beautiful branding, and treatment launches are part of the industry now, but they can make it easy to forget we’re still dealing with anatomy, prescription medicines, medical devices, complications, and informed consent.

For me, that changes the tone completely. I don’t want someone choosing a treatment because it looked good on Instagram or because everyone seems to be having it. I want them to understand why it may or may not be right for them, what the alternatives are and what the risks actually mean in real life.

Maybe that makes me the slightly less exciting person in the room 😂, but I’d much rather have a patient leave with fewer treatments and a better understanding of their options than feel they were simply sold something.

I’d love to know what other practitioners and patients think about this. Has aesthetics started to feel too much like retail?

Most people think they know where filler goes, but the areas that make the biggest difference are often the ones no one talks about.

It’s not always about lips or cheeks. Sometimes it’s the quieter, more structural areas that shift the whole face when they’re treated properly.

That’s where filler moves from being noticeable to being effective. Small, precise placement that supports your natural anatomy rather than changing it.

These areas require a more considered approach. It’s less about adding volume and more about restoring balance, softening tension, and improving how everything sits together.

When it’s done well, you don’t look like you’ve had filler. You just look fresher, more lifted, and more in proportion.

If you’ve been curious about filler but want something subtle and natural, book a consultation via the link in my bio or send me a message, and we’ll talk through what would actually suit you 💌

I want my patients to feel a lot during treatment. Informed, comfortable, listened to, confident in the plan.

I don’t want them to feel like they need a medical degree to book an appointment.

That’s my job. I’m the one thinking about anatomy, suitability, product choice, risk, how your face is likely to change over time and whether doing something today is actually the right decision for you.

It also means I’ll sometimes ask more questions than you expected, change the plan, or tell you I’d rather leave something alone. Slightly less exciting than “yes, absolutely, let’s do it”, but usually much more useful.

Aesthetic medicine should feel thoughtful and reassuring, not rushed or transactional.

Apparently, I’m quite a few kinds of “aholic” 😅

Skin health, ageing well and looking natural will always be a big part of my world, but so will long walks with my dog, Pilates, travelling, cheese and w**e, and anything that involves autumn, a cosy jumper and a good book.

I think the older I get, the more I appreciate that feeling good is rarely about one thing. It’s the treatments we choose, the way we look after ourselves, the people we spend time with and all the little things that make life feel like ours.

What would be in your own list?

Consider this your gentle warning that I may not always tell you what you hoped to hear in a consultation 😅

Sometimes you come in convinced you need one thing, and after looking properly at your face, skin, movement and previous treatment history, I’ll suggest something completely different. Sometimes I’ll suggest less. Occasionally I’ll suggest nothing at all.

That can feel a little frustrating when you’ve already mentally booked the treatment, but good aesthetic medicine isn’t about agreeing with every request. It’s about understanding what will actually help and what could make things worse over time.

I’m also a big believer that not every line, shadow or asymmetry needs correcting. Faces are meant to move, age and have character. The aim is to support that process well, not chase every tiny change as if it’s a problem.

So yes, I may be the friend who tells you to put the syringe down metaphorically speaking 😂

If you want a proper assessment of what’s worth treating, what can wait and what I’d leave alone, book a consultation via the link in my bio or DM me the word PLAN 💌

Let’s talk collagen supplements - something I get asked about a lot!

The evidence suggests that collagen peptides can support skin hydration, elasticity, and overall skin quality over time. But they’re not a replacement for SPF, good skincare, sleep, or collagen-stimulating treatments in clinic. They’re a complement to all of those things, and that’s where their value lies.

The other thing worth being clear about is that consistency is everything with supplementation. Taking collagen for two weeks and expecting a visible transformation isn’t realistic. Good skin is almost always the result of multiple small habits done consistently over a long period of time, and collagen supplements can absolutely be one of those habits.

Think of them as supporting the environment your skin needs to function well, not as a substitute for the things that actually drive real structural change.

If you’d like to understand what a complete approach to skin health looks like for you, head to the link in my bio to book a consultation or send me a message if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to help 💌
