While everyone else is putting a mask on this weekend, your nervous system might be begging to take one off.
In somatic and trauma-informed therapy, we know that things like hyper-independence, constant people-pleasing, or physical tension aren’t just habits. They are physical masks worn by a nervous system that doesn’t feel entirely safe to let its guard down.
If you are exhausted from holding it all together, let’s try a small reset today:
1️⃣ Drop your shoulders away from your ears.
2️⃣ Unclench your jaw.
3️⃣ Take a deep, slow exhale.
You don’t need to force yourself to “strip away” your defenses. Just acknowledge them with kindness. Thank them for protecting you, and remind your body that right now, in this moment, you are allowed to just exist.
If you’re ready to explore what’s underneath the surface, mydoor is always open for support. 🖤

Ever feel like you’re solving the exact same problems over and over again? 🔄
If you aren’t reflecting on how you handle situations, you’re bound to repeat them. Enter Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle, a brilliant 6-stage framework designed to turn any obstacle, mistake, or project outcome into a massive learning experience.
Here is the exact cycle to run through the next time you face a hurdle:
📝 1. Description: What are the raw, objective facts of what happened?
💭 2. Reactions: What were you thinking and feeling in the moment?
⚖️ 3. Evaluate: What went well, and what went horribly wrong?
🧠 4. Analyse: Dig deeper. Why did things turn out the way they did?
🎯 5. Conclude: What is your ultimate takeaway? What could you have done differently?
🚀 6. Action Plan: If this happens again, what is your exact, step-by-step roadmap?
Stop reacting in the moment and start analyzing the pattern. Try running your last major project or workplace hiccup through these 6 steps and see what you uncover.

Everyone experiences stress from time to time, but when worry becomes an ongoing, uncontrollable background noise that disrupts daily life, it might be Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD).
GAD is a recognized clinical mental health condition—not a personal flaw, and it’s certainly more complex than simply being an “overthinker.” It affects how a person moves through the world, keeping the nervous system trapped on high alert.
The most important thing to know? You do not have to navigate this alone, and GAD is highly treatable. Reaching out to a qualified mental health professional can give you the targeted, evidence-based tools you deserve to regain control of your everyday life.
👉 Save this post to look back on these grounding tips later, or share it with someone who needs to hear that their experiences are completely valid. 🐝

Close your eyes and try to picture your favorite childhood memory or a simple slice of pizza. Do you actually see it like a movie playing in your head, or do you just know the facts of what it looks like? 🧠✨
For a long time, people assumed phrases like “the mind’s eye” or “picture this” were just metaphors. But it turns out human imagination exists on a massive spectrum.
On one end is Aphantasia—a fascinating cognitive trait where the mind’s canvas stays completely blank. People with aphantasia don’t lack imagination; they just think in concepts, words, and relationships instead of mental photographs.
🎬 Fun Fact: Ed Catmull, the brilliant co-founder of Pixar and former president of Walt Disney Animation Studios, actually has aphantasia! It’s the ultimate proof that a blank internal canvas can still build the most visually stunning, creative worlds imaginable. 🚀
On the flip side, some people have Hyperphantasia, meaning their mental imagery is so vivid it rivals real life!
Which one are you? Drop a comment below and describe what you “see” when you close your eyes! 👇🍿

A gentle reminder from my therapy room this World Menopause Day 2026 🌿.
This year’s focus is on Chronic Pain at Midlife. If you are currently navigating perimenopause or menopause and finding that your body feels achy, tense, or unfamiliar, I want to offer you some reassurance.
Your physical pain is real. The emotional exhaustion you feel from holding that pain is also real.
When our bodies change, it is entirely normal to experience a sense of grief, frustration, or anxiety. Today, I invite you to take a deep breath and offer your body a moment of grace. It is doing an incredible amount of hormonal restructuring right now.
A quick grounding exercise for today:
Place one hand on your heart and one on your stomach. Inhale deeply, and acknowledge your body for how hard it is working to navigate this transition.
You deserve support—both medically for the physical pain, and emotionally for the mental load. My door is always open if you need a space to process this transition.

Ever tried writing with your non-dominant hand? ✍️this is mine!
It feels awkward. A little wonky. Slower. Less polished. And that is exactly the point.
In therapy and mindfulness practices, using your non-dominant hand is a powerful tool to bypass our adult, logical, heavily edited brain. Our dominant hand is great at telling the stories we’ve practiced telling. But slowing down forces us to interrupt those automatic patterns.
It creates an open channel to a younger, more vulnerable, and often rawly honest part of yourself.
💡 Try this exercise tonight:
1. Write a question with your dominant hand (e.g., “What do I really need right now?” or “How am I actually feeling?”).
2. Switch hands. Let your non-dominant hand answer.
3. Don’t judge the messy script. Just see what surfaces.
Drop a 🤍 if you’re willing to give your non-dominant hand a say today! 🐝
