Feeling balance difficult lately? Physically or emotionally?

Our FREE live Chi Flow class this week was all about Balance and Stability, and it was a good one.

We shifted weight from foot to foot, strengthened our ankles and worked with acupressure points to get energy flowing again.

Because feeling steady isn't just about standing on one leg. It's about feeling grounded and confident in everyday life.

The FREE recording is available until midnight on the 4th of November.

Comment YES and I'll send you the link.

And if you'd like to practise with us every weekday morning, over 400 of us do exactly that in Chi Flow with Jo.

First three months for just €39, then €20 a month.

Consistency is the key. Come and find your flow.

The top of your head holds one of the most powerful acupoints in the body.

It's called Baihui. In Chinese Medicine, it translates as "Hundred Yang Meeting Point" because it's where multiple Yang energy channels converge at the crown.

I've been working with this point for years, both in my own practice and with members of Chi Flow. Davy uses it too, as part of his daily self care for the tremors and unsteadiness that come with Parkinson's.

Here's what makes it so remarkable.

Baihui sits at the very top of the skull, right at the crown. In Traditional Chinese Medicine it does two very specific things.

First, it raises what we call clear Yang Qi. When your energy feels heavy, foggy, low or depleted, stimulating this point helps lift that energy back up. Think of it as encouraging the body's vitality to rise rather than sink.

Second, it calms what we call Liver Yang rising and interior wind. This is the TCM way of describing what happens when energy becomes erratic and unsettled in the body, producing symptoms like dizziness, vertigo, lightheadedness and that unsteady, slightly off-balance feeling that can make daily life so exhausting and unpredictable.

Wind in Chinese Medicine moves fast and creates chaos. Symptoms appear and disappear without warning. Tremors. Spasms. Dizziness. A stiff neck.

Baihui helps settle all of that.

You don't need any equipment. You don't need to be flexible or strong. You simply need to know where the point is and how to activate it gently.

To find it, imagine a line running from the tip of one ear to the tip of the other, over the top of the head. Then imagine a second line running from the centre of your nose straight up and over the crown. Where those two lines meet, that's Baihui.

You can apply gentle circular pressure with one finger, or simply rest your fingertip there and breathe. Even placing your awareness on that point during Qi Gong has an effect.

In tomorrow's free LIVE Qi Gong class, I'll be walking you through exactly how to use Baihui as part of your practice. We'll work with it in movement and in stillness, so you can feel the difference in your own body.

Whether you're dealing with dizziness, low energy, brain fog, or you're supporting someone with Parkinson's, this is a point worth knowing.

Your body is always communicating with you. Baihui is one way to listen back.

Good balance doesn't come from gripping harder. It comes from learning to root and rise at the same time.

In Qi Gong, we work with two beautiful acupressure points that most people have never heard of.

Kidney 1, called Bubbling Spring, sits on the sole of your foot. Bai Hui, Hundred Meetings, sits at the very crown of your head.

These two points work together. One draws you down into the Earth. The other lifts you gently towards Heaven.

When you find that connection, something shifts. The spine lengthens. The shoulders soften. The feet feel the ground in a way they often don't.

And the brilliant thing? You don't have to be standing on a mat to practise this.

I use it walking upstairs. Getting up from the sofa. Moving through the kitchen. Just going about my day.

Roots growing down. A gentle thread drawing you up. Spine long. Feet alive beneath you.

That's Qi Gong in everyday life.

This matters more than people realise, especially as we get older. Balance isn't just a physical thing. It's confidence. It's independence. It's moving through the world without fear.

And it's built slowly, through small things practised consistently. Not through one big effort, but through a hundred small moments of awareness, every single day.

If you want to feel steadier, stronger and more grounded in your body, come and join me in Chi Flow with Jo.

Every weekday morning, live online, we practise together. Qi Gong, acupressure, Five Element food medicine, and a community that keeps you coming back.

Comment YES and I'll send you the link for a free class at the end of the month. Let's grow stronger and steadier, together.

Fear of falling is real. And it can quietly shrink your world.

Western research has a name for it. The fear-of-falling cycle. You worry about falling, so you move less. You move less, so your strength and balance begin to fade. And the less steady you feel, the more frightening movement becomes.

It is a cycle that can creep up slowly, without anyone noticing.

I see it in our community. People who have started to avoid the stairs, the garden path, a walk to the shops. Not because they can't do it. Because somewhere along the way, the worry became louder than the trust.

And I understand it. When Davy was first dealing with the effects of Parkinson's on his balance, watching that fear take hold was one of the hardest things. Movement suddenly felt like a risk rather than a relief.

But here is what I know from years of practice and from Chinese Medicine.

The body needs to move to remember it can.

Qi Gong gives us a gentle, unhurried space to do exactly that. Slow, intentional movement that builds awareness before it builds strength. You begin to feel where your weight sits, how your feet connect with the ground beneath you, how your breath can settle the nervous system before it even starts to spiral.

It is not about being fearless. Courage is not the absence of fear. It is the willingness to stay connected to yourself while moving through it.

That is what we practise every weekday morning in Chi Flow with Jo. Not pushing through. Not performing. Just showing up, gently, and letting the body remember what it knows.

One day at a time. One breath at a time.

And slowly, the world stops shrinking.

If balance, mobility or a fear of falling is something you or someone you love is living with, come and try a free class with me this Friday.

Do you feel your energy dip at this time of year, leaving you vulnerable to coughs, colds and flu?

Chi Flow with Jo in October, we're focusing on how to boost your energy and immunity using Qi Gong, acupressure and Five Element food medicine.

And to get you started, I've put together a brand new mini ebook. Free to download. Yes, free.

Inside you'll find an acupressure point to support your immune system, a Five Element food recipe to nourish your energy from the inside out, and a Qi Gong move you can do right now, today, in your living room.

No equipment. No experience needed. Just simple, practical tools rooted in thousands of years of Traditional Chinese Medicine wisdom.

Because here's what I know from working with people every day in Chi Flow: the practices that make the biggest difference are the quiet, consistent ones. Not the dramatic overhauls. Not the expensive supplements. Just small, daily movements that keep your body healthy.

Your Qi, your life force energy, flows when you give it the right conditions. Food, movement and breath, working together. That's the whole idea.

So if you're feeling flat, run down, or like your get-up-and-go has quietly left the building, this mini ebook is a gentle place to begin.

It takes minutes to read. You'll walk away with something you can use immediately.

Feeling heavy, bloated or puffy around the legs?

In TCM, that can be a sign of Dampness. Think of it as sluggish fluid that builds up when digestion is weak.

Adzuki beans are one of my favourite foods for this. Sweet and sour in flavour, they have a natural draining quality that helps the body shift that heavy, waterlogged feeling.

Balance, bloating, water retention, swollen legs. Simple food medicine can make a real difference.

I'm talking more about this in my free live Qi Gong class on Friday. Can't make it live? The recording goes out afterwards.

Black sesame seeds are tiny. Their connection to your balance function, kidneys and your hearing? Not so tiny.

In Chinese Medicine, the Kidney energy system belongs to the Water element. They hold your deepest reserves of energy. And research is now showing a fascinating link between kidney health, hearing loss and balance (study in comments), with the kidneys and inner ear sharing surprisingly similar cellular structures.

Black sesame seeds are one of the simplest ways to nourish Kidney energy through food medicine. A sprinkle on your porridge or soup is a good place to start.

Your balance starts in your kidneys.

That might sound strange at first. But in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Kidneys are the root of your vitality. They govern your ears and your sense of balance, physically and energetically.

When Kidney energy is strong, you feel grounded, steady, sure on your feet.

When it's depleted, balance becomes something you have to work at.

And so many of us, especially as we get older, feel that wobble. That slight uncertainty when we step off a kerb or reach for something overhead.

It doesn't have to be that way.

In Five Element Food Medicine, we nourish Kidney energy through dark foods. Black beans, black sesame seeds, walnuts, seaweed. Simple, everyday ingredients that quietly do important work.

Add them to soups, sprinkle them over porridge, stir them through a salad. Your body notices.

Alongside food, Qi Gong is one of the most powerful ways to strengthen balance. Not because you are white-knuckling your way through balance drills, but because Qi Gong works with your whole body. It roots you through your feet, opens your joints, and builds that deep, quiet stability from the inside out.

We also use acupressure points that connect directly to Kidney energy, helping to settle the nervous system and encourage a steadier flow of Chi through the body.

Together, these three things, food, movement and acupressure, create something that no single approach can do alone.

I have seen it in our community. Members who came in feeling unsteady, uncertain, a little frightened about what their body might do next. And over time, with consistent daily practice, they find their feet again. Literally.

Davy, my husband, practises Qi Gong every day in Chi Flow with Jo. Balance is one of the things we work on together. It is not a quick fix. But with a gentle, consistent practice, it changes.

Your body is always communicating with you. Sometimes a wobble is simply a whisper from your Kidneys asking for a little more nourishment and care.

The good news is you can start today, with what you already have in your kitchen and ten minutes of gentle movement.

If you would like to try a free class and experience this for yourself, comment FREE below and I will send you the link.

Your ears do more than hear.

In Chinese Medicine, the ears are directly connected to Kidney energy, and the Kidneys govern your bones, your joints and your sense of balance.

So when balance starts to feel less reliable, when you feel a little unsteady on your feet, when confidence in your own body begins to quietly slip, that is often a sign that Kidney energy needs some attention.

Western medicine knows this too. The inner ear plays a central role in how the body maintains balance and stability. Chinese Medicine simply goes a step further, tracing that connection back through the whole energy system.

This is what I love about Qi Gong.

The movements we practise in Chi Flow are not random. Every single one works with the body as a whole. Whole body movement strengthens Kidney energy, builds confidence in the legs and feet, calms the nervous system and trains the body to feel safe in space again.

Davy practises with us every weekday morning. Parkinson's brings its own challenges with balance and steadiness. Qi Gong does not cure that. But it gives him tools. Real, practical tools he can use every single day to feel more grounded, more confident, and more at ease in his body.

That is what this practice is for.

If you have been feeling unsteady, fearful of falling, or like your balance just is not what it used to be, you are not alone. And you do not have to just accept it.

Gentle, consistent Qi Gong practice can make a real difference. It builds the deep postural strength that holds you upright. It trains the body to respond, not just react. And it does it all without force, without strain and without you needing to be fit to start.

You begin exactly where you are.

We practise live together every weekday morning. Short, gentle, purposeful. And every class is recorded so you never miss out.
