When I found out I was pregnant with baby number four, I already had a 1, 2 and 3-year-old. These were the three thoughts going around in my head. 🤍
1. “How will we do it?”
We are living overseas, with no family close by and no extra help. Both of us are working, and our days already felt so full. I wondered where the energy, time and support for another little person would come from.
2. “Is it too soon to do this again?” Is my body ready?
Another pregnancy while still deep in the baby and toddler years. Had I had enough time to recover, physically or emotionally? I could love this baby and still feel overwhelmed by the timing.
3. “How will this change our family?”
How would we find time for each child, for our relationship, and for ourselves? I wondered how everyone would adjust and how I could meet four little people’s needs when they all still needed so much.
There can be guilt in admitting these thoughts. But loving your children doesn’t mean you never question how much you can carry.
If you’re feeling this too, you’re allowed to name what feels hard, talk about the support you need and feel joy and fear at the same time. You don’t have to pretend it all feels easy to be grateful. 🤍
