Music filled Puriri Court when talented resident Maude Sherman took her place at the piano and Nancye Jones joined her in song.

Their impromptu performance created a lovely afternoon for everyone listening, with Maude’s playing and Nancye’s singing making a wonderful combination. It was clear there was plenty of musical talent in the room.

Puriri Court residents lined up for an afternoon of ten-pin bowling, taking turns to test their aim and see how many pins they could send tumbling.

The game soon brought out some friendly competition, with plenty of laughter and encouragement shared between turns. Each new attempt offered another chance to improve the score and move into the lead.

Ellerslie Gardens decided December was too long to wait.

For one winters afternoon, the dining room became a snowy Christmas scene, with glowing lights, festive tables and a resident whose bright red outfit was topped by a crown of Christmas bells. The calendar said winter, but everyone in the room said 'Christmas'!

Puriri Court residents brought plenty of concentration and competitive spirit to a friendly game of carpet bowls.

Residents took turns carefully lining up their bowls, with plenty of smiles and laughter shared throughout the game. The competition may have been friendly, but everyone was still keen to see who could finish closest to the target.

Highfield residents and team members came together for a special Matariki lunch featuring Māori bread and a traditional boil-up.

Sharing good kai around the table gave everyone time to mark Matariki together as one Highfield community.

Butterflies and beetles took shape during Puriri Court’s latest craft session, with residents choosing bright colours and their own imaginative designs.

By the end of the session, the room held a lively collection of handmade creatures, with no two looking quite the same.

Ivan Dyer celebrated his remarkable 105th birthday at Puriri Court, surrounded by family and loved ones.

The occasion also recognised Ivan’s lifelong service in the Armed Forces. It was an honour for Puriri Court to celebrate both an extraordinary birthday and a life shaped by service.

Two Ellerslie Gardens team members have each reached an extraordinary 25 years of service.

Together, that represents 50 years spent supporting residents, families and colleagues in the same home. We are delighted to recognise this significant milestone and the experience and commitment behind it.
