The Freedom Mission is taking me to different places and activities. It's been almost 2 years since I don't have a formal job and just work independently.

Here in the picture I am reading a poem of Santiago Bonhomme, my Co-founder at Zealanding. This is one of the many projects I am working with right now, besides The Older Brother and some more that I would talk about later on.

I was there covering an event as a journalist, but also representing him as the winner of a short story competition. As writers we are getting into different spaces to reflect about them, and we keep our senses open to what is happening around us.

Back to The Freedom Mission, I just want to say that I believe in what I am doing. Is taking lots of hard job and lack of sleep. But I can see the flowers in the spring while I am still in the middle of a Winter Arc.

If you have goals or purpose, go for it! That is the only simple way.

Meditation doesn’t have to be serious. It can also feel good.

Meditation has become part of modern life because many of us are looking for something very human: a little more calm, clarity, emotional balance, and a healthier relationship with ourselves.

For me, meditation isn’t about escaping the world.
It’s about learning to meet it differently — training our attention, calming the nervous system, and becoming more present in everyday life.

People come to meditation for many reasons:

• Stress reduction
• Emotional regulation
• Better sleep
• Focus and mental clarity
• General wellbeing and self-awareness

But sometimes the simplest reason is enough:

to slow down, breathe, and enjoy being here.

On Wednesdays I’ll be guiding small-group meditations at The Room. in Queenstown.

I have being a bit unusual during the last few months.

I felt like being in the middle of a mission. It is related with building community and change the story of my linage.

I don't have descendants, but I feel my ascendants from many generations ago transmitted me something; some ways of thinking, some ways of experiencing life, endurance and resilience.

I am using that to change and rebuilding a life... to change a story.

I just resigned to my last formal job a the end of 2025, from there I have been experiencing more levels of freedom, uncertainty, and a bit of experimenting and transformation.

Suddenly, I found myself sleeping less hours than mandatory and spending more time in different venues, writing, self-publising and selling a book, managing 3 websites and multiple social media channels (1 personal brand and 2 media companies), being writer, journalist and editor. Attending to different meetings, driving for Uber and doing Gardening Jobs around Queenstown Lakes District.

Oh! and I am hosting meditation sessions and also going to sell my book in different local markets.

It sounds a bit busy, but what I believe is that this life needs to be worth, I found a mission and It is giving me the energy and the endurance to manage all.

Being a partner, a son, a brother, a friend. Is my mission too. The clan and the tribe.

I am sharing this as some fragments of my personal journey.

Feel free to comment with your personal journey as well. I would be very happy to read you as well.

Some readers discover the people in a Memoir through the pages.

Hamish already knows the story because he was there.

We met while working together aboard the boat that appears in Chapter Twenty-Two, “The Galley on the Lake.”

Those services could be busy, but what I remember most is the crew around me: people anticipating what needed to happen, looking after one another, keeping a good attitude, and getting the job done together.

Hamish was one of those people.

We became good mates during that time, and there was a real sense of camaraderie on board. When everyone understood their role and trusted the people beside them, even the hardest services could somehow become enjoyable.

Years later, there is something special about seeing him on a day off after another busy ski season, sitting in the Queenstown sun and reading the chapter that holds part of that shared history.

The first copy of The Older Brother I ever signed ended up in his hands.

That feels right.

One of the unexpected joys of publishing this memoir has been seeing the story return to the people who were actually part of it.

Thanks for being part of the journey, mate.

🧘 Meditation, Joy and a Better Life.

Meditation is a way to cultivate awareness, reconnect with ourselves, and find a little balance in the middle of modern life. As we all know Meditation is full of benefits, but also brings Joy, It is a pleasant experience that we can practice without much logistics.

Through Meditation we can understand ourselves a little better.

Sometimes, inner freedom begins when we give ourselves permission to simply be. ✨️

Finding Balance Within.

Before we can be ourselves in the world, we need to learn to observe ourselves without judgment.

Our thoughts, emotions, reactions and the patterns that shape our everyday lives.

For me, meditation is a space to practise that awareness. Not to become someone different, but to understand ourselves a little better.

Meditation has been part of my life for around ten years.

It began as a personal practice, something that helped me navigate my own inner world, and over the last year I’ve slowly started sharing that practice with others here in Queenstown.

This October, another little chapter begins.

I’m collaborating with The Room to offer three intimate meditation sessions on 14, 21 and 28 October.

The Room feels particularly suited to this kind of practice: warm, quiet, intimate and removed from the noise outside.

We’ll use that space to explore attention, awareness and the nervous system, but also something deeper: the possibility of knowing ourselves a little better and bringing more presence and joy into ordinary life.

You don’t need previous meditation experience.

And perhaps we don’t need meditation at all.

But life is much better with meditation.

Looking forward to sitting together.

The story of The Older Brother started on November 1985.

However, the Memoir could start back in time. One scene before Chapter One can be seen here.

This is Luz Mabel, she was there in The Restrepo house in Bogotá, giving some sunshine to Cesar Enrique. He was still in her belly waiting the day to be born.
