We are thrilled to hear about the new funding towards medicines to treat minor conditions over-the-counter.

Pharmacists are already trained to treat conditions such as conjunctivitis, head lice, scabies, mild pain/fever - so being able to offer funded treatments will encourage more people to come in early and be treated quickly

Rest assured, if we ever see something that’s not quite right or seemingly more severe, we will always refer you onto your doctor to have a closer look

12-month scripts -

From the 1st of Feb your Doctor has the option of writing you a 12-month script.

They will only do this at their discretion and will likely be for people with LONG-TERM CONDITIONS who have a low chance of their health status changing over this time period.

Controlled drugs are exempt to this, which includes ADHD meds, which will continue to be a maximum of 3 month scripts.

You still collect 3 months supply from the pharmacy at a time- so your 12 month script will be distributed as a 3 months supply with 3 repeats.

If you do have a 12 month script, be mindful of any changes to your health over the year and be proactive at contacting your doctor I’d anything changes as your medicine too might need changing.
