On a rainy morning in Seward, we moved into the water element and began with a lymph focused flow, complete with Makiuri | Red Light Therapy red lights and Little Sister Apothecary massage oil.
The practice began with a gentle self massage and then we moved into a slow, intentional flow with some tapping and sweeping and breath.
I completed a lymphatic yoga teacher training by Yoga Medicine by Tiffany Cruikshank this spring and it was extremely informative. We learned about the anatomy of the lymphatic system and glymphatic system, circulation, load and even lymphedema.
I was interested in this course because I was experiencing a lot of inflammation in my own body and was noticing a swelling of the lymphs and wanted more support.
Here’s what I’ll say- I believe the body is extremely intelligent and in a perfect world- all the systems in place work perfectly. Similarly to “detoxing”- the body knows what it’s doing and we can let it do its thing. HOWEVER we live in a sh*t show of a world. Our food and environment and lifestyle… not super conducive to a healthy flow of the body or natural detoxing. And because of that- there are tools to help us support the body and systems in place even more. And this class includes some of my favorite tools: red light, asana, breathwork, self massage…
This class ended up being my favorite one of the entire retreat. And I’m thinking about possibly bringing it to the studio as an occasional pop up.
And for this class I drew the card:
COMPASSION
SENSUALITY • BEAUTY • NOURISHMENT
Love seeds and expands from within.
This card asks you to inhabit the spaciousness of your body, and trust in the greatness of your heart. Can you fully participate in this world, healed, wounded, or otherwise? Are you ready to nourish your most tender parts? The heart’s garden is in full bloom.
