A little Personal Lora to end October—a few favorite moments from this month. ❤️

🍂 Hiking along beautiful Lake Michigan with Emily and Samson.
🌊 An anniversary getaway with Jim to Michigan’s Thumb Coast.
🗼 Exploring a few new-to-me lighthouses. You know I love a lighthouse!
🍁 Enjoying the beautiful fall colors throughout the month.

Time outside, time together, and so much to be grateful for.

What was a favorite moment from your October?

When you’re used to being everything to everyone, “I’ve got it” can become an automatic response.

This week’s Headwork™: Catch the thought that you should be able to do it all. Check whether a task really needs to be yours. Then practice handing one thing over.

Dinner. An appointment. An errand. Something someone else can take responsibility for from start to finish.

You can care about everyone without being responsible for everything.

What’s one task you could delegate this week?

This is why I’m so passionate about what I do. You deserve support for the emotional part of this journey too. ❤️ What’s something you wish someone had helped you with when you started your GLP-1?

One of my favorite moments in a group is when someone shares something they’ve been carrying alone—and other women start nodding.

“Me too.”

We can talk about emotional eating, body changes, relationships, and the parts of weight loss that are hard to explain. We learn from one another, celebrate wins, and have somewhere to bring the hard.

Community Is Treatment™. This is why groups are such an important part of my work.

You can connect with me through my groups in BariNation or Project Reset, or join the priority list for the next After the Food Noise™ Collective, planned for early 2027.

BariNation: https://barination.org/
Project Reset: https://bodybybariatrics.com/project-reset-mindset-movement-meals-motivation/
After the Food Noise™ Collective: https://loragrabow.com/products/the-after-the-food-noise%E2%84%A2-collective

I’m also thinking about offering a monthly Headwork™ workshop—a place to learn together and talk about what comes up after the food noise quiets. Would that interest you? What would you want us to work on?

A little Personal Lora today: Earlier this fall, I took an afternoon to have lunch with my best friend, Krissy.

Krissy and I have been friends for 49 years. You read that right! We met when I was four years old. She lived down the street, we grew up together, and we’ve been besties ever since.

There is so much shared history between us—elementary school, high school romances and heartbreaks, the fun of our twenties, weddings, children, parenting, and now empty nests. We’ve been through it ALL together.

What a treasure to have a friend who has known you through so many versions of your life. ❤️ These friendships grow through shared memories, honest conversations, laughter, tears, and choosing to stay connected—even when life gets busy.
It’s easy to see the part of me that teaches, listens, and supports other people. Krissy is one of the people in my corner, too. We’ve celebrated each other’s joys and helped each other through the hard.

Over lunch, we started talking about taking a trip next year to celebrate 50 years of friendship. Fifty years! Can you believe it? And we’re still making memories.

Who is your longest friendship with?

“After the day I’ve had, I deserve…”

Finish the sentence. What comes up?

This week’s Headwork™ practice is about getting specific. Naming what you need gives you more ways to respond.

You’ve spent the day taking care of everyone else. By evening, food feels like the one thing that’s just for you.

A little comfort. A little quiet. A break from being needed.

In this week’s After the Food Noise essay, “When Food Is the Only Thing You Do for Yourself,” I’m exploring how a conversation about emotional eating can become a conversation about boundaries, guilt, and giving your own needs a place in your day.

You do not have to earn a place on your own list. Your needs belong there, too.

A little Personal Lora today: I recently had my Abide5 friends over for a fall lunch.

I love welcoming people into my home, setting a pretty table, and making them feel loved. These lifelong friends have supported me through the happy and the hard of 2026, personally and professionally.

I wanted to pour love into them the way they so often pour love into me—and say thank you. ❤️

I talk about community so much in my work. These women are part of what it looks like in my own life. I’ll share the story behind our name another time.

Who are the people you’re glad you get to do life with?

10/14/2026

“What did eating give me in that moment?”

That’s your Headwork™ question this week. Comfort, stimulation, relief, reward, a sense of control—your answer can help you understand the need underneath the pattern.
