A beautiful exercise that I recommend in giving yourself hope.

Curious about drinking less but not sure where to start?
Start with a conversation.
I’ve coached 300+ women one on one and it always begins the same way, a free call - zero pressure, no pitch, just you, me and the truth about what you want willingness over willpower always.

DM or Comment “CALL” and I’ll send you the link.

If I were doing Sober October, this is exactly what I’d do to prepare. Starting today, not on October 1st.

1️⃣ Get curious. Listen to the Andrew Huberman, Ph.D. episode on alcohol and health, for science plus my private podcast, Heather Lowe, Sober Coach for Women Permission to Pause for understanding and enlightenment.

2️⃣ Clear the house. Get the alcohol out. If you can’t, move it to the basement or garage. Out of sight, out of mind.

3️⃣ Restock the fridge. Buy the good stuff: sparkling water and AF w**e. These are chilling in my fridge rn Solubrae Nouvie and Grüvi

4️⃣ Plan things to look forward to that won’t trigger you. Movie nights, mahjong, morning yoga, coffee with friends, a day of thrifting, a bookstore crawl.

5️⃣ Get your feelings up and out. Journal, take a walk, call a friend. The w**e used to do that job, so give it a new one.

6️⃣ Get out of your head and tell someone.

7️⃣ Find your people. A person or a group to do this with. (Hi, Heather Lowe, Sober Coach for Women Insiders 👋)

8️⃣ Let it be practice, not perfection.

9️⃣ Don’t think beyond October. Do one day, then another. No labels. No deciding what this means for the rest of your life.
You don’t have to know where this goes. You just have to begin.

🎧 Comment PAUSE and I’ll send you my private podcast.

BOOK GIVEAWAY 📚

I’m giving away a copy of The Sober Shift by Suzanne Warye—a modern-day guide to creating an abundant sober life (and yes, there are mocktail recipes too).

It’s about making room for more of the life you actually want.

You can want to drink less and still want to be invited.

You still want friendship, laughter, and plans you’re excited about. You don’t have to give those things up.

I met a woman I really liked, became her business coach, and eventually joined her board. Now I volunteer alongside her. 🤎

Together, we hosted a sober social under a harvest moon in my home state of Wisconsin. After welcome drinks (Old Fashioneds of course from Mock & Co.) We released intentions, held a mocktail competition—with a recipe book Deb Podlogar | Mocktail Mom®️ for the winner—and spent a beautiful evening connecting.

I’m so grateful for the friendships sobriety and coaching have brought into my life. I share these moments for anyone wondering, “Where will I fit in without alcohol?”

There’s room for you here, too.

Many of my events are invite-only and aren’t open to the public. Join my newsletter through the link in my bio for invitations to future gatherings. I’d love to meet you.
