Today is Stillbirth Awareness Day.
And today, I don’t want to fill this post with a bunch of statistics.
Today, I just want to make space for the babies who were here.
The babies who were loved before anyone ever held them.
The babies whose little faces are forever remembered.
The babies whose names still bring tears.
The babies whose birthdays still matter.
The babies who changed their families forever, even though their time here was far too short.
Stillbirth doesn’t mean that baby didn’t exist.
It doesn’t mean a mother stops being a mother.
It doesn’t mean a father stops being a father.
And it definitely doesn’t mean their baby should never be talked about again. Sometimes people are afraid to say their name because they think they’ll remind the parents of their loss.
Trust me…they didn’t forget. Sometimes, hearing their baby’s name is exactly what their heart needs. So today, I want to do something a little different.
Please say your baby’s name.
If you feel comfortable, leave your baby’s name and birthdate in the comments. 🕊️
I want this comment section filled with their names. Not just their loss. Not just a statistic.
Their names. Their birthdays. Their existence.
And if your baby didn’t have a name, you can leave a 🤍, their initials, a nickname, or whatever feels right to you.
Today, we remember them. Today, we say their names. And today, we remind their families that their babies will always matter. 🕯️🤍
