Science. Mind body connection was once a theory. It’s finally being researched with advanced technology and more attention. I always knew it was all connected. Why I choose to be an Osteopath.

The greatest buffer one can have against the storms of life is physical fitness. There is absolutely no argument. I am not talking about daily walks, 1-2 sessions a week. I am talking about a daily rigorous routine done over and over for many years.

I have become somewhat bewildered that so many people choose career status, and wealth over top-peak physical and mental conditioning.

Especially, within the last 5 years, as so much research is starting to prove just how powerful it is for a human to be physically fit.

But, we are creatures of habits and behaviors. The neuropsychology of behavior is very difficult to overcome. Seek out true professionals that can help. There are a few that have dedicated their lives to understanding the human condition. The complete package of expertise. Not only do they understand all the confounding variables, but they live it. That is a rare health care professional.

Extremely important.

The problem with marketing certain techniques is it can create the perception that it works for everyone. This is not true. A key concept in medicine are the patient variables that also play a role in treatment options.

Therefore, different patients need to have different techniques tailored specific to them. The most important aspect that can’t be marketed is within the patient doctor relationship. And, the effective education and communication when it comes to treatment decisions. The second most important aspect of medicine is the educated patient that takes responsibility for their own health care decisions. Including keeping yourself healthy, literate and not relying on a business (health care systems, government and insurance companies) to make those decisions for you.

In our social media driven era, I am a little disheartened by marketing techniques as the be all end all. Doctors are not businessman in my opinion. Just because the systems we work in are businesses, it doesn’t mean we have to be like them.

We took an oath and that’s more important than our contracts or production.

This below is in regards to The Jiffy Knee.

This is why I will never be a consultant for a certain devise company. Or work for a huge health care system. I don’t want to become biased.

Why Hunt?

I don’t know? We all have our different reasons and style.

I would say the overall reason for me, is the human and nature connection. Hunting camp is tricky to navigate. Even harder to navigate is the wilderness. As a new hunter, learning about my inadequacy is likely the hardest. As I have grown older, I am consciously picking environments that have high failure. I like being a student again. It’s very difficult to get older and have this mindset. Ego is implanted and hard wired. All of our past sacrifices have added up and we all want to be at the pinnacle of experience and value. Being a novice isn’t easy. It’s way easier as a child.

100 percent Contribution and TEAM is my ultimate goal. The “individual” has become the center of our culture. We all are on the spectrum of narcissism. It can partly be explained by survival, social hierarchy and relevance. But, the long game is each other and how we contribute. It’s a tough journey transcending ourselves for the benefit of the group. But it’s worth it. I think this is the only real victory of our lives. To surrender to it all.

What may be….may be. Either way we learn.

I pray for the ability to surrender. This great experiment of life.

Bow hunting is a great teacher. I hope to become a better student.

2026 Elk Hunting Misogi is a wrap.

Grip strength studies show that handgrip measurement is a powerful biomarker for overall health, aging, and longevity. Research reveals that every 5 kg (11 lbs) drop in grip strength correlates with a roughly 16% higher risk of all-cause mortality and a 17% higher risk of cardiovascular death, making it a stronger predictor of lifespan than systolic blood pressure

There is a counterculture starting.

Many people are starting to realize discipline equals freedom. Everything we do in life requires the function of our body. To withstand hardship of any kind we must be secure with our heath. If we loose it all, as long as we have the strength within our mind and body….our soul can rebuild.

Fitness is about building the mid-cingulate cortex and a more ELASTIC heart. It’s not about cosmetics or gym culture. It’s about freedom later in life. It’s about leadership to your children. If you speak leadership and represent this position than be a walking resume.

Grab a 40 lb vest and an 80 lb Kettle and move your machine. 15 minutes back and forth no rest. It’s a Norwegian high interval training routine. Do this 5 days a week and research shows you will delay your aging. Plus it’s a quick and refreshing phase adjustment just in time to start work or put your kids to bed.

Bow Hunting for Elk in the Colorado Rockies is my new passion.

If you spend time reading history, philosophy and scripture you will find that life is as simple as doing an adventure with close friends. It’s the pinnacle of human existence. Nothing will ever compare to the time that is allocated for these experiences. It’s who we are and what we are made to do.

For Men, it’s a must. It’s the world’s greatest therapy.

Men’s Health is also a great passion of mine. The bonds of Brotherhood keep us going.

Football shaped me.

It’s football season. A great time of year. The boys of Fall are about to start their season.

I played this game for 18 years. The 80’s,90’s and early 2000. It was hard. Even harder to maintain good grades. During my college years, I faded away from football to concentrate on pre-med. Being an academic minded student athlete for 4 years was difficult. But, I learned that hard was a good thing. I miss those days. I miss the camaraderie, the traveling to different universities and warming up with the drum line.

Over the years this game kept me accountable. It gave me purpose. It taught me “all for one” and “one for all.” When I realized it was over, I entered into a new very challenging endeavor. It was time to challenge my mind and spirit not just my athletic physicality. I also needed to feel a sense of purpose with a new team. This new team was the United States Navy.

I never stopped choosing the hard road. I wanted to build a team at home. So I did. 6 kids and a 21 year marriage. Being single or engaged and committing one self to a hard challenge is actually easy. So I decided to add 6 kids to the mix. Haha.

This game is as American as it gets for our young men. If I was to give a young football player advice I would say this. Love this sport whole hardily. But don’t let it define you. Use it as a tool to help create an iron mindset of pure will and determination. Use this sport to teach you life.
Don’t bask in the glory days of this game. Let it propel you to more and tougher challenges.

Football is life……..and life is football.
