During last week’s Skills Fair, we welcomed donor family members and transplant recipients to our “Coffee and Connections” corner to share their personal donation experiences, offering our team a deeper understanding of the impact of our work.
We heard how the compassion shown to Heather and her family following her husband George’s donation strengthened the relationship between LOPA and Louisiana State Police. Victoria shared how our Aftercare team helped her connect with her donor family in Florida. Diane spoke about the pride she felt receiving her son Dillon’s donor medallion, a symbol so meaningful that she had it tattooed on her arm. Stacey shared how her father, a heart recipient, lived to meet four grandchildren after his transplant and how she continues to honor his legacy by keeping his story alive.
Through their stories of gratitude and remembrance, we were reminded of the meaningful relationships we build and the lives touched by donation. A special thank you to donor wife Heather, liver recipient Victoria, donor mom Diane, and Stacey, the daughter of a heart recipient, for sharing their experiences and helping us connect to our mission of !
