Thanks to my hero, my son, Juan Carlos, for putting in the snow guards to save my chicken coop roof from the inevitable avalanche from the looong roof above. (A “little” oversight in my second chicken run build…son to the rescue).

CORRECTION: The Mabee Farm Fall Fest is Sunday 10/11/26 11am-3pm ( NOT Saturday as I shared previously). My bad. Now back to making candles for some new Erzgebirge Light Angels I found in my travels. More to come. I’m digging these intense angels from the DDR…balancing light of the left and right while standing in the middle with decorative authority and no smiles.

Test burn on new rollouts for Fall and Winter festivals: 12” Blessed Taper Candle and 8” Mother Of All columns candle. So far so good. Looks like these are perfect candles for long and dark nights. So far. Down to the wire and hoping they’ll make it onto the table, but there’s no rushing finding the right wick size and best burn story. They have to bring de-light. My next appearance will be in the Mabee Barn right next to the Mohawk River at the Mabee Farm Fall Fest 10/11 11-3. 11 Main Street Rotterdam Junction.

True Confession number 2: When I notice a key is missing from my pocket I first look for it on the kitchen table near the chair I often sit in. It’s usually not there. If I leave the table and 1) search, in another room, through all of the pockets of every piece of clothing I’ve worn that week and 2) allow that search to last 20 minutes while 3) feeling frustration & agitation and 4) planning to break open whatever the key opens or begin wondering where my duplicate is, the keys will be on the kitchen table when I return to the kitchen. This does not work if I expect the keys to appear on the kitchen table. I must sincerely go through all stages of feeling inconvenienced by my recklessness. I truly must feel that I will never see these keys again. Now, sometimes the keys ARE actually in a pocket on the first search and a feeling of relief immediately descends in the understanding I will not have to go through a state of bewilderment and self-flagellation for 20 minutes. The keys returning to the table in plain sight seems accompanied by laughter and an invitation back to the present. Elementals?

True confessions #1: When I leave a room I now turn off the light with the thought that the accumulated few cents I save with Central Hudson will spare me and family from the threatening economic collapse.

Thank you for the delivery, fellow laborers and Keepers of the Dumpster. I accept in exchange for living next to the public utility construction site for the Common Good all summer and into Fall. This should be a good start for my fateful and destined legacy of being made into Area 52 at a formerly off the beaten path and tucked away humble apiary.
