🤒 Sore throat? It may not always be strep.
Viral infections are a common cause of sore throats, especially when symptoms like coughing, congestion, or a runny nose are also present.

Strep throat is caused by group A strep bacteria and can cause symptoms such as:
• Sudden sore throat
• Pain when swallowing
• Fever
• Red or swollen tonsils
• Swollen lymph nodes in the neck
• White patches on the tonsils
• Small red spots on the roof of the mouth

Because symptoms can overlap with other illnesses, testing can help determine whether strep may be the cause.
