As a **Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor**, I want to remind every parent, caregiver, teacher, coach, and anyone who works with children—**pay attention when a child’s behavior changes.**
Children don’t always have the words to say, **“Something is wrong,” “I’m scared,” or “I need help.”** Sometimes their behavior says it for them.
Trauma can show up as anger, nightmares, withdrawal, trouble concentrating, aggression, risky behavior, or simply a child not acting like themselves.
Before we label a child as “bad,” “disrespectful,” or “acting out,” ask:
**What might this behavior be trying to tell me?**
Pay attention. Listen. Ask questions. And most importantly, **be a safe person.** 💚
