Well, I have some more exciting news to share!! 😁🙏

I am incredibly honored and grateful to announce that Grounded Therapeutics has been recognized with TWO awards for 2026!

🏆 Best of the Best – Massage Studio
Johnson City Press Readers’ Choice

🏆 Best of Tennessee – Holistic & Naturopathic Practitioners
Guide to Tennessee

First and foremost, THANK YOU!!

To everyone who has supported me, trusted me with their care, referred friends and family, shared my work, or simply encouraged me along the way… I am sincerely grateful.

After more than 20 years working in massage and bodywork, being recognized by my new community here in Johnson City means a great deal to me.

But I also want to share why this second recognition is particularly meaningful in a different way.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with thousands of people from all walks of life.

And one thing I’ve come to recognize over those years is that people arrive on the massage table carrying much more than physical tension.

They arrive carrying the stresses of their daily lives.

Their relationships.
Their responsibilities.
Their grief.
Their habits.
Their fears.
Their physical and emotional exhaustion.

And while massage can be an incredibly powerful tool for helping people feel better, I’ve become increasingly interested in helping people address the circumstances, behaviors, and patterns that contribute to their discomfort in the first place.

Because what happens during the hour or two we spend together is important…

But what happens during the other 22 or 23 hours of your day is equally, if not more, important.

And THAT is where my passion for holistic wellness has continued to evolve.

Through my education and experience in massage therapy, physical therapy, yoga, somatic practices, stress coaching, emotional recovery, and my own personal journey through life’s challenges, I’ve come to appreciate just how interconnected our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being truly are.

And more importantly, how much influence we can have on our own well-being when we begin to recognize those connections.

My goal has never been to simply help someone feel better for an afternoon.

It’s to help people develop a better relationship with their bodies, their minds, their emotions, and ultimately, their lives.

To cultivate greater awareness.

To recognize patterns that may no longer be serving them.

To discover new ways of responding to life’s challenges.

And to develop practical tools that help them navigate their everyday lives with greater ease, resilience, and intention.

There’s a quote I’ve always loved:

“A miracle is a change in perspective.”

And I think that beautifully captures so much of what I hope to offer through Grounded Therapeutics.

Sometimes the most meaningful changes in our lives don’t begin with changing our circumstances.

They begin with changing how we see them, how we relate to them, and how we respond to them.

A shift in perspective can become a shift in behavior.

A shift in behavior can become a shift in habit.

And a shift in habit can ultimately change the direction of our lives.

THAT is the work I’m passionate about.

And while I will always love the art and science of massage and bodywork, I’m incredibly grateful that the broader scope of my work is being recognized as well.

So again, THANK YOU to everyone who has been part of this journey.

I’m grateful for where this work began, excited about where it’s going, and honored to continue sharing it with this community.

Much love and gratitude! 🙏❤️

Well, this is quite an honor… 💙

I’m incredibly grateful to share that Grounded Therapeutics has been voted 2026 Best of Johnson City — Massage Studio! 🏆

For over 20 years now, massage therapy has been so much more than simply a profession for me.

It has been an art form… a creative expression… a grounding practice… and one of my greatest teachers.

What began as a fascination with the physical body has evolved into an ever-deepening exploration of the human experience.

The ways in which we move, breathe, feel, adapt, compensate, protect, and ultimately connect with ourselves and the world around us.

Massage has been my window into all of it.

Through these hands, I’ve had the privilege of working with thousands of individuals, each with their own stories, experiences, challenges, and relationships with the bodies they inhabit.

And through those experiences, I’ve continued to learn, grow, explore, and refine this art that I love so dearly.

Even after two decades, I still find myself fascinated by how much there is left to discover.

But what makes this particular recognition so meaningful is the community behind it.

I’ve only been here in Johnson City for a relatively short time, and to know that enough people have welcomed me, trusted me with their care, and taken time out of their own lives to vote for my little practice is genuinely humbling.

Because while massage may be the art I’ve spent my life cultivating, it’s the people who have given that art its purpose.

The connections we cultivate.

The trust we establish.

The moments of ease we discover together.

To everyone who has supported Grounded Therapeutics, whether through a session, a referral, a kind word, or simply sharing my work with someone you care about…

Thank you.

Thank you for welcoming me into this community, for trusting me with your care, and for allowing me to continue doing something that I genuinely love.

With immense gratitude…

Grounded Therapeutics 💙

Did you know that if you practice physical therapy-like movements BEFORE you get injured, you can actually reduce your risk of injury?!?!

Crazy, right?!!!!

Did you know that when you practice emotional resiliency PRIOR to needing therapy, you can reduce your risk of needing therapy?!!!!

When you stop seeing your yoga practice as just stretching, and instead see it as preventative physical therapy AND emotional resiliency training, the whole game changes! 🥰🙏🙌

🌬️ WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR BREATH? (Part 5/5)

BREATHWORK ISN’T ALWAYS ABOUT CALMING DOWN!

Sometimes, we want to relax and soften.

Other times, we want to stimulate, energize, and prepare ourselves for activity.

And our breath can play a role in both!

There are countless breathing practices that have been developed throughout history, each with different intentions and physiological effects.

In my bodywork sessions, I frequently utilize breath to help clients become more aware of areas of restriction and invite their tissues to soften.

It’s particularly interesting how often I see people with rounded shoulders, limited shoulder mobility, and significant restrictions throughout their rib cage who have very little awareness of how their rib cage actually moves when they breathe.

Many people primarily breathe into their belly or rely heavily on accessory breathing muscles, without experiencing much expansion throughout the rib cage.

And this is one reason I find the relationship between breath, posture, movement, and nervous system regulation so fascinating.

They’re not isolated systems.

They’re interconnected aspects of how we experience and interact with our bodies.

And if you’ve tried breathwork before and didn’t find it particularly helpful, that doesn’t necessarily mean breathwork isn’t for you.

Pranayama, segmental breathing, breath counting, breath coordinated with movement, various meditative breathing practices…

There are so many different approaches to explore!

The important thing isn’t necessarily finding the PERFECT breathing technique.

It’s developing a greater awareness of your breath and discovering how you can utilize it to support your individual needs.

So, as we wrap up this five-part series, I want to return to the question that started everything…

WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR BREATH?

Is it something you consciously work with throughout the day?

Something you only notice when you’re stressed?

Or something you’ve never really given much consideration?

I’d genuinely love to hear your experiences in the comments!

🌬️ WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR BREATH? (Part 4/5)

WE CAN GO WEEKS WITHOUT FOOD, DAYS WITHOUT WATER… BUT ONLY MINUTES WITHOUT BREATH.

Now consider something…

Of these three essential components of our survival, the one we can go the LEAST amount of time without is also the one we have the greatest ability to consciously regulate.

How fascinating is that?

From our first breath to our last, we carry with us a tool that can help influence our physiological state, emotional experience, and relationship with the world around us.

We don’t have to purchase it.

We don’t have to travel somewhere to access it.

We don’t have to wait for someone else to give it to us.

It’s already here.

For thousands of years, various traditions have recognized the significance of breath, including yogic traditions that describe Prana as life force energy.

And while breath is certainly not the answer to every challenge we face, developing a conscious relationship with it can provide us with something incredibly valuable…

A greater sense of participation in our own well-being.

In a world where it’s easy to feel powerless, overwhelmed, or disconnected, recognizing that we have the ability to influence our internal experience can be profoundly empowering.

Sometimes, changing our relationship with the world begins with changing our relationship with ourselves.

And sometimes… that begins with a single breath.

🌬️ WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR BREATH? (Part 3/5)

HOW MANY OF US ARE WALKING AROUND WITH A PUCKERED BU****LE? 😂

Seriously though…

When our nervous systems perceive a threat, our bodies begin preparing to protect us.

Muscles brace, breathing patterns change, and our entire physiology can shift toward a state of defense.

This is incredibly useful when there’s an actual threat.

But what happens when that state becomes our everyday experience?

When our bodies spend prolonged periods in heightened stress, we may begin developing behavioral patterns and coping mechanisms in an attempt to find some sense of relief.

And these patterns don’t necessarily remain isolated to our physical bodies.

They can influence the way we communicate, respond to challenges, navigate relationships, and interact with the world around us.

Irritability, defensiveness, aggression, judgment…

How much of what we’re witnessing in the world today might be influenced by people who are constantly operating from a heightened state of physiological defense?

We often focus on changing our thoughts and behaviors without considering the physiological state from which those thoughts and behaviors are arising.

Perhaps part of changing the way we interact with the world begins with changing the way we’re experiencing ourselves.

And perhaps we could all benefit from unclenching our buttholes every now and then. 😂

🌬️ WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR BREATH? (Part 2/5)

STRESS ISN’T THE ENEMY… BUT LIVING IN IT CAN BECOME A PROBLEM.

Our sympathetic nervous system is absolutely essential!

It’s what helps us respond to emergencies, accomplish challenging tasks, and mobilize the energy necessary to navigate demanding situations.

Whether we’re running from a tiger 🐅 or simply trying to make it through a particularly demanding workday, our bodies have an incredible capacity to adapt.

The problem isn’t that we experience stress.

The problem arises when we never give ourselves an opportunity to come back out of it.

Our bodies aren’t designed to remain in a heightened state of physiological defense indefinitely.

And when we spend too much time there, we can begin experiencing changes in muscle tension, digestion, sleep, recovery, and emotional resilience.

This is where something as simple as an elongated exhale can become particularly useful.

By intentionally slowing our breathing and allowing our exhale to lengthen, we can begin encouraging a shift toward a more regulated physiological state.

Sometimes, we need to remind our bodies that the tiger is no longer chasing us.

And sometimes… there was never a tiger to begin with.

🌬️ WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR BREATH? (Part 1/5)

Our bodies are constantly performing thousands of functions without us ever having to think about them.

Our hearts beat, our digestive systems process food, our kidneys filter blood… all without requiring our conscious participation.

But there’s something particularly fascinating about the breath.

While breathing is largely regulated automatically, it’s also something we can consciously influence.

We can speed it up, slow it down, deepen it, or even pause it temporarily.

And this creates a pretty remarkable opportunity…

Through something as simple as our relationship with our breath, we have an accessible way to influence our autonomic nervous system and our physiological state.

But how many of us actually pay attention to the way we’re breathing throughout the day?

In this five-part series, we’re exploring the relationship between breath, stress, nervous system regulation, and our ability to influence how we experience the world around us.

It all starts with awareness.
