In schema therapy, the subjugation schema describes a pattern of setting aside your needs or feelings because you fear anger, rejection, or other consequences. It’s not a diagnosis, and speaking up isn’t always safe in every situation. The goal is to understand the pattern and find choices that respect both your needs and your safety.

As of November 1st, 2026, our providers located in our 1117 S Milwaukee Ave office will be moving into our new space at 1232 American Way. This will be reflected in our updated Google business profile.

Thanks so much to everyone who came out last night for our first public event, our Stress Has a Body Workshop with Nina Verhalen. We were so grateful to connect with those who attended and for Nina for teaching practical ways to manage stress and to be non-judgmental with ourselves as we observe and respond to the ways our bodies communicate stress.

Our next event is coming up on Friday, November 6th, and will be a talk by Lake County Care Collective provider Michelle Magida, PhD. She will be speaking about Grief & Parenthood and exploring ways to navigate through the difficulty of acceptance and coping when our parenting journey isn't what we expected.

Personally, I am really excited about this, as I believe that the grief we experience as parents is often profound and enduring, even though we are often simultaneously grateful. Join us in hearing from Michelle about this important topic on November 6th, 2026

Lake County Care Collective is so excited to begin a partnership with Lisa Block and Block Counseling Services. Lisa will be relocating to our new Libertyville location and offering personalized support for veterans, first responders, and military individuals and families.

Lisa provides a warm and supportive space for individuals to work through a variety of mental health and relationship challenges, using techniques such from Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), person-centered, attachment, existential, and trauma-focused modalities.
