📏😊 Measure Me! 🌟

How tall are you? Our little learners became mathematicians today with our Measure Me activity! 🧮 The children traced their outlines onto paper and then measured their height using small objects lined up end to end, counting each one as they went.

We compared our measurements with friends and practiced using math words like taller, shorter, and about the same! 📐👏

Through this hands-on activity, our friends explored early measurement concepts, strengthened their counting skills, and expanded their math vocabulary. They also learned that we can use everyday objects to measure and compare lengths! 💡❤️

We're growing in more ways than one at The Nest! 🐣📏

🎨☀️ Puffy Chalk Paint! 🖌️✨

Our little artists got hands-on with science and creativity today! 🌈 The children helped measure and mix ingredients to create their very own puffy sidewalk chalk paint. Then, using squeeze bottles, they explored their creativity by making unique designs and colorful artwork! 🎨

As the paint dried, our friends observed how it puffed up and discussed how its texture was different from regular sidewalk chalk. What a fun way to learn through exploration! 🧪👏

Through this activity, the children practiced early measurement skills, strengthened their fine motor control, and explored scientific inquiry by observing how ingredients combined and changed. ❤️

We love turning everyday materials into exciting learning opportunities! 🌟

❄️ Winter break just got a whole lot more fun! ❄️

When school is out, Winter Camp at The Nest Schools is IN! 🙌

We’re bringing the energy and excitement of camp to winter break with camp rallies, spirit days, games, special visitors, opportunities to learn new skills, make new friends, and plenty of fun along the way!

Designed for school-aged children 6–12, Winter Camp gives kids something to get excited about while school is out...and hopefully gives families a whole lot less “I’m bored!” 😉

Because the goal isn’t just to keep them busy. It’s to have them asking:

“Can we go back tomorrow?” 💙

✨🌌 Pipe Cleaner Constellations! ⭐🔭

Today, our little learners explored the wonders of the night sky with our Pipe Cleaner Constellations activity! 🌠 Using constellation mats and colorful pipe cleaners, the children practiced bending and shaping the pipe cleaners to match different constellation patterns.

As we worked, we discussed what constellations are, where we can see them, and how stars come together to form different patterns in the sky. 🌟 The children strengthened their fine motor skills, creativity, and hand-eye coordination while exploring early science concepts!

Who knew learning about the stars could be so much fun? 🚀💫

🧗‍♀️💪 Fit Buddies: Climb It! – Week 1 🌟

Our little learners got moving during outdoor exploratory play with Miss Cassie! ☀️ Miss Cassie encouraged our friends to walk across the ramp, explaining that they first needed to walk up the ramp and then down the ramp. 🚶‍♀️⬆️⬇️

As our friends practiced climbing and walking, they worked on their balance, coordination, and leg strength while building confidence in their physical abilities! 💪❤️

We love watching our little learners explore, move their bodies, and discover what they can do! 🌈👏

🧘‍♀️ Reach & Stretch! 🤸‍♂️✨

Today, our children took some time to reach, stretch, move, and learn about their bodies! 🌟

Using our stretch dice 🎲, the children took turns rolling the dice and practicing different stretching poses together. We also used numbers to help us count and hold our stretches for different amounts of time! ⏱️🔢

As we stretched, we talked about how our bodies feel before, during, and after movement. The children practiced noticing how their bodies move and learning how stretching can help us feel ready to move and play! 💪😊

This activity helped our children build:
🧘 Body awareness & physical control
🤝 Turn-taking & social skills
💛 Self-regulation & group participation
🔢 Early counting & number skills
💬 Communication & expressing how our bodies feel

What a fun way to get our bodies moving while learning together! 🌈✨

Our schools have been hard at work with one goal in mind: delivering the highest-quality early learning experience. We’re proud to share that three more of our schools have achieved NAEYC recognition. This reflects our ongoing commitment to trustworthy, innovative, educational practices for young children and peace of mind for families.

Join us in congratulating these exceptional teams of early childhood educators! 🎉

Sort It Out
Today we spread out a mix of items and asked the children to notice what was the same and different among them. The children sorted the group by one attribute, then tried sorting the very same items in a different way. The children counted each group and compared which had more, fewer, or an equal number.

OUTCOMES
When children engage in this activity, they are learning...

• to classification by sorting objects by shared attributes.
• to build mathematical thinking by comparing groups and counting items.
• to strengthen analytical language by explaining their sorting decisions.

POV: You found child care that makes everyone’s day better. 👀✨

Imagine dropping your child off each morning knowing they’re about to spend their day learning, playing, growing, and making memories while you can focus on yours. 💙

That’s the kind of partnership we create.

Happy kids. Peace of mind for parents. A place where everyone can thrive. ✨

This is what child care is at The Nest Schools.

Paints and pianos: intro to colors week 4
Today we took the leaves, grass and sticks that we gathered outside and glued them onto paper to make our own collages. We discussed what we saw and we arranged our leaves into whatever we wanted our masterpieces to look like.

🏗️🧱 Tape Towers! 📏✨

How tall can you build? Our little learners put their engineering skills to the test with our Tape Towers activity! We placed tape along the wall as a height goal and challenged the children to stack their blocks as high as they could. 🙌

As they built, the children explored early math concepts by comparing height, counting blocks, and discovering what happens when their towers get too tall and begin to fall! We also practiced using words like tall, more, and fall to build language and communication skills. 🗣️💡

Through hands-on play, our little builders are developing early math skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence while having fun! ❤️🧱

🎨🖍️ Wet Chalk Exploration! 💦✨

Today, Ms. Olivia invited our Hummingbirds to explore a new art material! 🐦💛 The children used wet pieces of chalk on black construction paper, creating beautiful and colorful artwork for our classroom. 🖤🌈

As they experimented, our Hummingbirds discovered that wet chalk feels and looks different from dry chalk while strengthening their fine motor skills and expressing their creativity through mark-making. ✋🎨

🌟 Today’s Learning Goals:
✏️ Build fine motor grasp skills using a new wet material
🎨 Strengthen creative expression through mark-making
💦 Explore how wet chalk looks and feels different from dry chalk
