Meditation first found me when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It taught me how to listen to myself, trust my intuition, and ultimately, played a profound role in my healing. I like to call meditation “the most eye-opening experience with your eyes closed.”

My relationship with meditation hasn’t always been consistent. There have been periods when I’ve practiced consistently and others when life got in the way. But it’s the one practice I always return to, and one I haven’t spoken about nearly enough.
Last week, I traveled into the Amazon jungle to meditate with my dear friend and spiritual teacher, Swami Nardanand, whom many lovingly call Guruji. He is one of very few living Shaktipat Siddha masters who transmits spiritual energy through his blessings.
I’ve been meditating for over 15 years, six of them with Guruji, who has taught me that meditation is, above all, a homecoming to yourself. A way of discovering that the wisdom you’re searching for already lives within you. That you are your own guru. “When you recognize your own engineering, your body’s intelligence and technology, when you master your own body and mind, your life becomes pure joy,” says Guruji.
But something extraordinary happened in Brazil.
Being in Guruji’s presence, meditating beside him, feeling the unfolding of Shakti within me, I experienced something I can only describe as a direct connection to the Divine. Something I had understood intellectually for years suddenly became a living experience in my entire being.
I’m still integrating it all. The shifts I’m feeling are profound, and I don’t yet have words for everything that’s unfolding. But I know this experience has deepened my understanding of myself, the world, and what it truly means to heal from the inside out.
And that’s why I’m sharing this with you. Meditation is the most accessible healing tool.
You don’t need a guru, a mantra, or anything fancy to begin. Just close your eyes, sit with yourself in silence for a few minutes every day, and see what happens. You might be surprised by what you discover. And it might just might change your life.
